Dak seems to respond to up tempo but if we have 3 turnovers in the 1st quarter like we did Sunday. The defense will be gassed in the first with 3 to go..

I think we are better at holding possession if we play with tempo because we will just simply move the ball better.

I don't know how anyone can watch Dak play and tell me he is anything special without playing with a sense of urgency.

When he plays with urgency he just looks so much better.

when this offense is in and out if the huddle fast or running no huddle Dak gets into his rhythm way better and this offense looks unstoppable.

It slows down opposing pass rushers, stops substitutions anspd wears them down especially with Zeke lowering the boom too.

What is stopping kellen from doing this all game long, tempo, motion, misdirection......

What is stopping them?...………………...very very simple...…………...the big mistake of shelling out 90 million to Zeke.

If you are going to invest 35 million in a QB, you shouldn't need Zeke. To pay a talented QB like Dak that much money and to spend so much draft capital at the WR position and have Zeke lead the charge is just dumb.

Good post. It really helps the OL. Garrett refused to see it despite being a generational offensive genius.

That's what he did in college and why he was so good in college. Played form the shotgun with pace and a spread offense.

This way the offense AND defense can be completely worn down by mid second quarter.

Same people would complain about blown leads.

I don't mind mixing things up tempo wise, but you cant ask your team to run high tempo all game.

They are human beings, not robots.

not really. Zeke is the best player at his position in the NFL. nobody else on the Cowboys can say that. Maybe Greg Z if he has a great year.
It doesn't matter whether you are a run first or pass first team IF you do it efficiently. All you are looking for is to keep the defense honest and hopefully exploit a weakness.
No matter how good your QB is, every team wants as good a running game as it can get whether it be a bell cow RB or a committee. Running the ball is easier, safer, controls the clock & travels well. Plus Olinemen play better if they get to bulldozer especially early in the game. Gets them fired up as most of them don't really like pass pro.

LOL...…..no he isn't. Only a homer Cowboys fan would say that.

Most of what you said here its pretty much the exact opposite.

The Cowboys offense scores more and is more dangerous and dynamic in the passing game. That's the bottom line. Every time you focus Zeke, you don't focus the passing game.

Just look at what's going on in Seattle. They used to be a run first team. THIS year they finally figured out that they need to feature Wilson all the time and their offense has hit a new level.

If Zeke was on KC are you going to run Zeke or focus on the passing game? Common sense.

Plenty of time to run Zeke after you have big leads or to run out the clock or at times play keep away. But to focus him early and often is hurting this team. In case you haven't noticed the last two years we keep falling behind early in games. There are stats that prove this point by the way.

Here is a great article describing EXACTLY the point I am making:

LOL...…..no he isn't. Only a homer Cowboys fan would say that. - And 80% of everyone else. If he isn't, can you name who is better?

If Zeke was on KC are you going to run Zeke or focus on the passing game? You are going to use whichever gives you an advantage in the game \ situation. Just like KC utilizing their 1st round RB in both the running & passing game. Seattle has known Russell was the man for years but that still doesn't stop them from drafting and acquiring RB's because they realize you can't be one dimensional. You look at it as either or. That is overskewed. You need both. The teams that go the furthest are close to being balanced. Sure some teams may be slightly more pass than run but without effective running, their season would be over sooner.

Most of what you said here its pretty much the exact opposite.
People who get mesmerized by the great passing teams who are deficient in the running game are often dismayed when that team goes out early in the playoffs. Its not a coincidence this happens.

Your kidding yourself if 80% thinks Zeke is #1. McCarrey is consensus #1 and its not close.

Personally, these are all the backs I take over Zeke: Mccaffrey, Henry, Kamara, Cook, Mixon, Jacobs, Aaron Jones.

And don't bother debating them as its a personal preference.

You are correct it is personal preference to an extent. All of those are fine running backs.

I am not sure they trust Dak yet with that type of offense. Romo would have been brilliant on this team. Coaches are so controlling, Dak needs more skins on the wall.

Chip Kelly's offense is a lesson why you don't go high tempo all game. It has it's place, but if you do anything consistently defense will figure you out. The key is to use it at the right times.

The ultimate offensive weapon is playing a lousy defense down their best player.

I just think Zeke lacks the big play potential. You need that element out of the running back position.

Even a guy like Henry busts lost of big runs.
