Wild card round:

When the Skins offered us Sam Huff, who did they want in return?
I didn't even know they had ever offered him to us.

You're right. The Skins didn't, but his previous employer did, in 1964.

From The Dallas Cowboys: An Illustrated History (1981):

"There was also a feeler from the New York Giants. They were thinking about trading their devastating middle linebacker , San Huff, who Gary Cartwright in the Dallas Morning News said was "to enemy quarterbacks what earthquakes are to small villages in Peru." But the asking price was too high. The Giants wanted Bob Lilly in return."

Well, at least I kept Hostile entertained for part of the night. After several guesses and some clues, he finally got all of them correct.

Here are the answers --

1. Clint Longley (two TDs, no interceptions) and Kevin Sweeney (four TDs, one interception). Longley (122.9) and Sweeney (111.8) also are the only Cowboys rookie quarterbacks with a passer rating higher than 69.5 (Roger Staubach's rating as a rookie). Every other Cowboys rookie quarterback has been worse than 69.5.

2. Timmy Smith

3. Tommie Agee, 13 carries for 59 yards. Emmitt had two carries for 2 yards.

4. Felix Jones (21 years, 122 days -- nine days younger than Emmitt was when he scored his first touchdown)

5. Vinny Testaverde (40 years, 353 days)

6. Deion Sanders, four

7. Dexter Coakley and Dennis Thurman, four each

8. Danny White and Ron Springs, 1983

9. Marion Barber, 17. (Barber also is second or tied for second in TDs of 2 yards or less, 3 yards or less, 4 yards or less, 5 yards or less and 6 yards or less.)

10. Eric Bjornson, one in 1996 and one in 1997

Hostile,

What year was Kevin Sweeny's Thanksgiving win over the Packers? I must have been asleep that year from too much turkey. I always thought it was Jason Garrett in 1994 who was the T-day hero over the Pack.

Dadgumit, that was Jason Garrett. Sweeney was a rookie in 1987 and he had a really big game.

I am now drawing a blank as to who that was against. I want to say it was against the Jets. I know the other team wore green. I remember that pretty vividly and I don't think it was the Eagles.

Sweeney started against both the Jets and Eagles (two green teams) in the replacement games in 1987.

And I signed my name to my other post because I've been grading papers all day and got into the habit.

It had to be the Jets man. I could be wrong, but he had a big game. In my mind it was the Packers. But you are 100% right, that was Jason Garrett in 1994.

Sweeney threw three TD passes in a win over the Jets in a scab game. He went 6-for-14 for 139 yards and an interception, but three of his completions went for touchowns. The next week, he went 8-for-14 for 152 yards, one TD and no interceptions in a win over the Eagles' scabs.

His best game, though, probably came in his second season, against regular NFL players. He came off the bench to replace Steve Pelluer against the Giants and went 19-for-37 for 189 yards, three TDs and no interceptions in the second half. We were behind 26-0 at halftime under Pelluer, and we ended up losing 29-21.

Sweeney looked like he might have some potential after that, and he started the next two games. But he threw four interceptions and had a 6.1 passer rating in a 43-3 loss to the Vikings the next week, then had an 8.2 rating in a loss to the Bengals, with a combined 125 yards passing in those games. He never played again in the NFL.

That Giants game gave me a lot of hope for Sweeney. I thought we may have found a QB.

Thanks for the clarification. I had him and Garrett completely mixed up in my head for some reason. I knew it was a team wearing green, and I just remembered that Packers turkey day game and inserted Sweeney in place of Garrett.

Duh.
