nothing really new here...feel free to move:

Titans, Cowboys resume Pacman trade talks
By JIM WYATT • Staff Writer • April 13, 2008

After more than a week of inactivity, the Titans and Cowboys once again are talking about a trade involving suspended cornerback Pacman Jones.

One of Jones’ agents thinks that if a deal is going to get done, it will be this week.

“I think for both teams, it is important,’’ agent Worrick Robinson said. “It will give them a chance to set their draft boards and make adjustments.

“But both sides are savvy business people and they both have experience in these matters, and they are moving at their own pace. They are not going to let the pace of this be dictated by anyone else. … But the draft is going to influence everything.’’

The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 26-27.

The two sides continue to talk about draft pick compensation for Jones while also trying to work through compromises related to signing bonus money already paid to Jones.

Trade talks temporarily broke off during the NFL owners meetings in Florida earlier this month when the two sides appeared on the verge of reaching a deal, largely because of Tennessee’s request for Jones to reimburse them for some of the bonus money.

Based on how discussions have gone over the past two months, Robinson knows there are no guarantees. He and agent Manny Arora are prepared help work on a new contract if a trade agreement is reached.

“I think it’s a good sign that the lines of communication are back open,’’ Robinson said. “We’ll see what happens. If they get something worked out I think they’ll approach us and let us know they have something in place and ask us what we are willing to do to help facilitate the trade.’’

Arora said last week he plans to file for reinstatement Tuesday. If Commissioner Roger Goodell isn’t willing to reinstate Jones, Arora said he’d like for him to ease some of Jones’ restrictions if he’s traded to another team

I STILL don't see the need to give up any compensation for this jerk, let them cut him and see if he truly wants to be a Cowboy then...

A mid-late round pick for a top 10 CB and punt returner? Where do I sign?

If we wait until they cut him, and if he's reinstated by Goodell, there's a good chance other teams will jump into the mix.

Seriously, we had issues all throughout last year at CB. Reeves and Nate Jones did not get it done. They are both gone. What makes anybody think we will have IMMEDIATE results from a rookie that would be an upgrade from Reeves/Nate Jones?

I hope like hell the Pacman trade goes through, sooner than later preferably. We need help at CB.

If he gets cut loose, Dallas will be one of a handful of teams lined up to sign him cheap. The only reason other teams aren't in it now is because the Titans want something for him. If he was free and clear, you'd better believe there'd be competition. Regardless of his off field activities, he's a top 10 CB who can also return punts. He'll come on the cheap with provisions in writing that can protect the team and cost them ALOT less for a player with his talent demands. Taking a chance on a talent like that can put a team over the top.

That's exactly how I see it.

Two of our biggest 2007 weaknesses were CB and PR.
IF he keeps his nose clean we have a top ten player at both spots.

The goal of most teams is to improve the weakest areas of their roster.
To acquire a PB caliber player at a position of weakness is a huge win.

Most teams are more than willing to give up a top money free agent contract or exercise a top 10 draft selection to make this happen!

When you can upgrade a position of weakness with a PB caliber player and do so with a second day draft pick and very modest contract.....
well I think I'd have to say that's a win win win senario!

I know some disagree with me, and I certainly don't mean this in a "panicky" way because I don't think the Cowboys need to panic...

However, I think it would really benefit Dallas to know -before the draft - whether or not he is going to be on their team next season. I know Pacman is always going to be one strike away, but I still believe he impacts this draft somewhat for the Cowboys...Get him done, and things fall into place a little more clearly for the team.

Draft "Trade"? Extortion is more like it.

I think that when Jerry has a meeting with Manpac, he should have three scantily clad women bring refreshments at different times and have a pile of his signing monies laid out on the conference table........all in singles.

No need to panic, the Titans just blinked.

Jerry called their bluff and they just folded. The Titans were holding out for either another suitor or for us to bet against ourselves and give in to their ridiculous demands. Jerry was going to have none of that.

The Titans know the sand is almost through the hour glass and they are going to be left with nothing for Pac and be on the hook for the last 3 yrs of his contract, all guaranteed. Jerry knows this and played it perfectly, especially all the talk last week that the "deal was dying".

Scared the Titans back to the table. Jerry played this brilliantly!!!

As much as I hate the idea of him coming aboard, I don't see a 5th rounder providing a lot for this team.

I hate the guy but hes worth the compensation.
