nothing really new here...feel free to move:
Titans, Cowboys resume Pacman trade talks
By JIM WYATT • Staff Writer • April 13, 2008
After more than a week of inactivity, the Titans and Cowboys once again are talking about a trade involving suspended cornerback Pacman Jones.
One of Jones’ agents thinks that if a deal is going to get done, it will be this week.
“I think for both teams, it is important,’’ agent Worrick Robinson said. “It will give them a chance to set their draft boards and make adjustments.
“But both sides are savvy business people and they both have experience in these matters, and they are moving at their own pace. They are not going to let the pace of this be dictated by anyone else. … But the draft is going to influence everything.’’
The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 26-27.
The two sides continue to talk about draft pick compensation for Jones while also trying to work through compromises related to signing bonus money already paid to Jones.
Trade talks temporarily broke off during the NFL owners meetings in Florida earlier this month when the two sides appeared on the verge of reaching a deal, largely because of Tennessee’s request for Jones to reimburse them for some of the bonus money.
Based on how discussions have gone over the past two months, Robinson knows there are no guarantees. He and agent Manny Arora are prepared help work on a new contract if a trade agreement is reached.
“I think it’s a good sign that the lines of communication are back open,’’ Robinson said. “We’ll see what happens. If they get something worked out I think they’ll approach us and let us know they have something in place and ask us what we are willing to do to help facilitate the trade.’’
Arora said last week he plans to file for reinstatement Tuesday. If Commissioner Roger Goodell isn’t willing to reinstate Jones, Arora said he’d like for him to ease some of Jones’ restrictions if he’s traded to another team
