ESPN just showed a tennis player straight up crying like a little ***** about some condensation on the court :laugh2: He was throwing such a hissy fit! Talk about being a girl, suck it up. I've always had a little more respect for tennis players than, say, golf players, but his rant is changing that sentiment.

Those who can't play football, baseball or basketball,

play tennis

haha kidding kidding

Tennis is a real sport :)

No sport that asks the fans to be quiet is a real sport.

You mean like football when the home team's offense is on the field? Or basketball when the home team is shooting a free throw?

Not even close to the same thing. That is strategy in football and basketball. And while the home crowd is trying(usually not trying that hard) to be quiet, the visitors are yelling their heads off. In tennis and in golf, the entire crowd is directed to be quiet and there are repercussions if they are not.

:muttley: They should leave sweat on basketball courts too.

Nadal was also complaining about the conditions. I'm also pretty sure Nadal would beat up the OP in a fight.

This is one of the worst stipulations I've seen placed on what constitutes a sport. Tennis and golf aren't team sports and there is no home/away crowd to contend with. No player is given an advantage due to the crowd so it is about their performance instead of who can overcome crowd noise. It is similar to playing the Super Bowl at a neutral sight.

That is an incredibly dumb thing to say.

I half thought you were joking when you first made the comment... Guess not. It's pretty embarrassing that you would even try to defend such a moronic statement.

I was joking. Well at least mostly joking. Some people are just touchy(that is also a joke).

I don't play tennis, but I appreciate the sport very much. I think these guys are serious athletes and it is great to witness two of the best of all time playing right now(Nadal and Federer).

I do find the whole "Quiet Please" thing silly. Sorry, I do. Actually I'm not sorry. Just an opinion. I also think some of these guys would still play at a very high level even if the crowd was not directed to be quiet during a serve. They are that good and the art of serving and returning is similar to pitching and hitting in baseball. The "Quite Please" is more from some sort of formal tradition than out of necessity. That part annoys me and takes tennis down a notch for me, but only a small notch.
