i heard on ESPN he was a free agent? i didnt think he was didnt dallas sign him to a long term deal in 2007?

ESPN would be wrong.

they did that yesterday too.

I have been torn on whether they did it on purpose to stir something up or just made an error.

Newman is a SUPER restricted free agent. Meaning he is under contract with the cowboys but another team can have him if they trade for him.

LOL. That's a new one for me. I suppose some team might come calling, but I doubt it.

ESPN sucks donkey balls.

I think what gets me is that there really is a monopoly on the sports media as ESPN for the most part is the only game in town. All the local beat writers want to work for ESPN as it's a big pay increase for them and their only option as the newspapers keep cutting payroll.

I give ESPN credit for seeing the future with this. I still think a billionaire could make a ton of money creating his own sports network. Something with just different personalities would make money, but I think something that was a little less cartoonish with more likeable personalities would probably work better as well.

The big issue would be getting games since ESPN owns NFL coverage, NCAA coverage, NBA, and MLB coverage along with major PGA Tour event coverage as well.

But it's amazing how time and time again ESPN is just plain lousy.

That billionaire would have to convince the tv people to give him as much air time as ESPN. That's the problem. Fox Sports tries but just doesn't get the air time.

There's a lot to be said for being the first to the market/first to do a particular thing well. ESPN. Apple IPhone. Etc...

Oh, how I wish it were true!

No more Newman.

Unfortunately, he signed long term for huge money. He ain't going nowhere and no one wants him.

NFL Network hasn't really had a problem competing.

I cant stand some of the people on ESPN or NFL network.I guess it's just how it goes though.

I think the entire "around the horn" group is terrible. I don't like the host, Paige, Ryan, Mariotti.

I think NFL network dropped the ball this year with their combine coverage. They missed large segments of the 40 yard dash to show clips of Tom Brady at the combine, Rich Eisen training for the 40 yard dash, and other stupid stuff that wasn't entertaining.

How did I know you would post in here? Your such a hater.

There are several teams that would love to have Newman as a starting cb.
