Despite the game clinching play at the end, is anyone else disappointed in Newman's play this year? He seems to get beat systematically over and over, even by avg. receivers, not to mention being seemingly fragile as hell. I don't see the same speed or break on the ball that I've seen in the past. Safety is a huge need but can we go into 2011 with Newman as a starter? I'm starting to think not. Please discuss

Terence Newman guesses right at end

ARLINGTON, Texas – Terence Newman thought he knew the play that was coming in the third quarter. He guessed wrong.

Newman thought he knew the play that that was coming on the final drive. He guessed right.

The price Newman paid for being wrong was a 47-yard reception by Carrollton's Anthony Armstrong. The reward for being right was an interception that sealed the win over the Commanders.

In both situations, Newman thought the Commanders were running a slant they used in the first quarter. Armstrong instead ran a post for the big gain, when Newman acknowledged he left the safety “out to dry.”

I'm convinced he has some sort of injury that's impacting his efforts.

he's fortunate this was underthrown

That may have been his last home game in Dallas. If so, I'm glad he ended it with an INT to seal the game.

He was one of my favorite players when he came into the league. I have called him out many times for his poor play the past several years. He just doesn't have it any more and it is time for the Cowboys to move on without him. He is overpaid, overrated, and old now. And he is just plain stupid.

He is now a big time liability. Lost alot of his top end speed. Time for him to get some bench time.

Let Scandrick or McCann start the last two games. Might as well see what they can do.

No...Newman can never do any wrong. Anytime he gives up a play, it's because of an injury or lack of safety help. Top-5 CB all day :starspin

I think Newman has played very tentative this year. He has the tools physically but I don't see the urgency or hunger in his game.

I don't think he needs to go though. Unless he becomes a malcontent.
He seems to be one of the leaders on this defense. But that's not saying much considering it's the worst defense in the league.

Maybe a change of scheme and coaching will light his fire and make him what he used to be.

He's gettin' old.

Needs to hit up Charles Woodson and get the name of his supplier.

This was a jawdropping play. The Skins would score a play later, but it doesn't explain letting Moss run free like this.

Glad he held onto a pick there but I'm getting just a little tired of seeing him get burnt at different points in the game.

I'm still not a hater of him like some. I still think he's a solid corner who simply needs to pick his game back up and play better.

Hard to blame that on Ball.

Notice how our secondary got progressively worse every year since Campo came back as the DB coach? Coincidence? I think not.

I have a feeling T-New has issues with Campo and maybe that has something to do with why T-New has gotten worse past few years.
