Looking at the details of his new contract is does look like he took pay cuts in 2027 and 2028.

It looks like they gave him $20 million up front and reduced his 2026 salary to the minimum. The bonus is prorated over 5 years with $4.2 million in voidable years. This deal lowered his previous CAP number by just under $10 million.

But what is interesting is next year he will get a salary of about $8.25 million. Under his old contract he was due $$8 million more than that. Now about $7 million of the difference is made up by the $20 million bonus. But then in 2028 he is due $10.25 million when before he was due $16.25 million. So in 2028 is is taking $6 million less than he was due in his old contract.

The Cowboys can get out of this contract after this year with a CAP save of about $1.75 million and about $14 million in dead money. I think Terence realizes he is never going to see that last year of this deal if he does not step up his play this year.
