Guess he's knocking off the rust cuz he's healthy as far as we know.
Good thing we signed him to a big contract before the season while he was injured. He is the 9th highest paid RT. Playing like the lowest graded RT.No surprise Steele is struggling. Tough injury suffered late last season.
Took the words right out of my fingers!!!..always happens after nice FAT paycheck. They lose the edge.
It's the only way we do things around hereJerry likes to use contracts to reward past performance.
Yeah, that extension gave me Michael Gallup vibes all over again. You had him on a one-year favorable deal and signed him to a top ten contract before you even got to see how the knee responded? It makes no sense.Steele is over rated by many here due to run blocking. Which in todays NFL is sadly the second priority to any OL player now.
BUT at the same time as several pointed out and as history has shown THAT injury will not fully heal in one year.
Did the boys make a mistake in paying what they did? yes but on the other hand Jerry always overpays so cannot blame Steele for grabbing the money.
THE SMART THING would have been to sign him to a one year prove it deal but he might not have taken it; might have gone elsewhere.
You can win with Steele, just have to give him help when he is up against the better pass rushers.
It is why I think the NFL will eventually become a league where unless you are the next Tom Brady you won't get more than a 3 year deal...always happens after nice FAT paycheck. They lose the edge.
..im all for it. ..It is why I think the NFL will eventually become a league where unless you are the next Tom Brady you won't get more than a 3 year deal.
Well it certainly much easier when you get 28 tries at it and have the job security of a supreme court judge.Struggling RT. Fire Dak and Trey Lance looks booty will lead to Zach Martin and Tyron Smith retiring or requesting trade to other teams.
So...what do you do?
Not easy being a GM is it? This board tries to make you think otherwise, though.

Which was why the boys should have worked harder on a real good swing tackle.he is less than one year removed from major knee surgery. can't expect anything more. it takes 2 years really to heal from these type surguries.
Which reminds me of the modern day Nobel Peace prize that was awarded to somebody BEFORE they accomplished anything……ah, society just progressing right before our very eyes.Jerry likes to use contracts to reward past performance.
