nope, didn't like it... sorry.
You didn't like Alien 3 or Resurrection hopefully then either correct?

Prometheus was pretty bad. .

7 out of 10 liked it.
So there's you and Ron - that's 2.... Who was 3rd person?
Lol
The OP started off the thread by pointing to Prometheus as barometer, so I guess in your 7-10 philosophy, there is your "third".... I will happily take the minority role in your world......
Yo, what's with the "baltimore chop" my friend?
Over 70% liked Prometheus.... So abomination doesn't make any sense.
Maybe it makes sense to the person who used the term "abomination"?
I thought it was pretty bad myself... I never shy away from being in the 30%...
that being said if your reference is RT, or IMDB, etc... payola is a big part of critics and fans movements on that site...
I personally know some folks who feel like you (liked it), but I also know some folks who feel like me... (hated it)

All good.
Not the greatest movie. I still enjoyed it. Sometimes there is enough good to overlook the parts that aren't that good.
Quentin did point out the 2 idiots trying to okay with the alien cobra lol
Man, I even liked AVP... Sanaa!
Yeh, It was a disappointment in my book. I see some of the attractions... (I mean Charlize was in it!)
I've never heard Quentin's take on it.
What?? Hahahaha, the psychologist you are........... I liked 3, wasn't a fan of Resurrection. I Think Fincher did an admirable job with 3, considering the change in philosophy. Wasn't a big fan of Jeunut's take on the film. You're not going to convince me that I should like Prometheus. I personally don't think Ridley Scott has crafted a high quality film since "Black Hawk Down"....(Matchstick Men was ok) And I watched Prometheus once more when it was release on premium TV. Still don't think it was Ridley Scott quality work.... You might as well let it be... because thats not changing......
Not analyzing your answers so no need to get defensive, I was just curious if you liked those films but didn't like prometheus. Not that I care or anything, was curious.
The change in philosophy with 3 occurred during the numerous draft re-writes and production changes. If I am not mistaken Newt and Hicks weren't meant to die originally. It was a result of the screenplay hell that happened with 3.[/quote]
Yeh after the success of the first, and the super success of the 2nd, the Alien series was a hollywood vehicle, they were going to make more movies, toys, video games, etc, with or without Ridley's blessing (almost made Aliens without him).... I think Fincher managed to put his stamp on it. It feels like one of his films.... Going into a movie without a completed script, as a young director is a tough road... credit to him.
.
Didn't know Ridley was on board with Aliens, I thought that was James Cameron's doing there. Alien 3 is still solid but I kind of wish they'd continue the story of Aliens by getting that do-over. Have them wake up from their deep sleep in the cryo-chambers. Hicks and Newt were great. I think it is a shame that they haven't kept up with the same formula that made it successful. Closest thing to the first 2 films was the newest game.
