I'm sorry, this guy is worthless... no way he should start over Glenn. IMO he hasn't been the same since Steve Smith torched him 2 years ago in the playoffs. He is so scared of getting burned deep, he will allow EVERYTHING in front of him, EVERY TIME. I didn't realize how bad he was till I saw a real corner like Henry make play after play. IMO Newman is quickly approaching bust status. That being said, Jammer was picked #5 overall also and he is even worse.

i know, henry is showing us what good cb play is like and i would like newman to follow suit.

please, he is fine. He was pushed off many times during the game. Newman made some great tackles today.

well since we got the win i coudl care less, he played good enough, and despite the INT glenn wasnt great you know

I didn't think he was that bad - what did he give up today - just a few outs?

Teague31 is just a notch below BadAttitude... How could a real fan be anything but happy after that game?

Wow, how about, hey guys, it was an ugly start, and it was a tough, hard fought game, but ur TEAM came through and won the firsst season opener in five yrs......that sounds better......stop w/the Newman bashing, I bet in preseason, you were talking about how much better and mature he is this year.....first game, it was tough, but we won, he'll only do better......

Henry made some plays but also gave up quite a few. That is his style. Newman was more consistent and didn't give up much. I think folks here are unreasonable in their expectations.

Adam charts the plays so it'll be interesting to see what he came up with for the game.

You're exactly right, Eskimo. Newman allowed four catches for 43 yards. Henry allowed six catches for 79 yards. I thought both of them played very well, other than the jump-ball 33-yarder Henry allowed at the end.

Correction -- Newman allowed three catches for 43 yards. He had four incompletions to his guy.

His name is TERENCE Newman. He is a cowboy, you know, the team you cheer for. At least know his freakin name. Funny how you crap on TNew when he gave up like what, 4 passes? Our LB'ers and safeties were the guys giving up the crucial run and pass plays.

I am so happy that we WON!!! But I would like to caution everyone, do not get caught up in the numbers, stats can be misleading and they do not tell you the whole story.

Newman may have given up, less catches and less yards, but that does not mean that he played such a heck of a game. It could be that coverages was rolled over to give him help as to why Brees was trying to attack Henry so much, or it could be that Henry was sitting down on the routes and Brees felt that they could get him.
And Newman, could have been playing his usual back off the receiver that Brees felt he would not get him on a double move, or like I said earlier Newman may have had LB help as well as Safety, or the DL and the OL might have been to big for Brees to see over or he may not have always had a good passing lane on that side of the Line.
There are so many factors that cause those numbers, you guys just don't know.
I do not know, I'm just throwing out some of the possibles.

In my eyes, Henry played a great game, he had a heck of a lot better game than Newman. Henry I believe they said on post game show recorded 12 tackles and had 5 or 6 pass defenses.

Yes he gave up the 33 yarder, I suffered a let down as well as everyone else, but I saw that he gambled and misjudged the ball, also I had a feeling that we would not let those guys score, I just felt that they would not score and they did not.

Those last 4 plays, I guarantee you did alot for our defense psychi, I'm willing to bet our "D" mental attitude made a great leap we'll see them play even better the next game, as well as the OL, we will get better with every game.
