What a coach would see in Hayden is a known commodity that can provide snaps, a lot of them. With a banged up DL that holds a lot of value. Personally I hope he is cut, but from a coach perspective, they know they will have a 1 tech to plug in who won't stink up the joint any more than it already does. That isn't meant to say much about his quality of play, it's mediocre and I doubt it will improve much.

The Proctologist was the perfect example of what was so wrong with the boys - the O line stank and they kept this JAG around for years. I can see the same thing happening on the D line where it will stink for years until they break down and start using first rd picks in numbers on it. In the meantime JAGs like Hayden will sit around for years eating up a roster slot supposedly because he is a 'known' commodity. Never have believed in that BS. If he is a JAG dump him and bring in others; sooner or later you will find a player and that is better then keeping a JAG around.

Sorry, but Hayden isn't going anywhere. It isn't McClain's job to lose, and he won't win the job from the hot tub. As much as I hate to say it, Hayden is probably the best option we have at this point.

Terrell McClain had an ankle injury. I don't know when he will be back, but I expect several players to come back now that they are past the game.

He could end up being a very important player because he was expected to be the starting 1-tech which was by far the weak link on the DL in the game. Hayden was terrible which has a big negative effect on the other DL. The 1-tech need to occupy 2 blockers in order for the DL scheme to function correctly. Hayden didn't do that.

How often is the 1 being asked to play two gaps? I didn't look at the way he lined up but the majority of the time the 1 in this defense plays one gap. That doesn't mean he isn't being double teamed. I didn't really pay attention that closely. Maybe he played more st8 up in the game. If so did he line up over the C or a G?

Who's going to get cut when Josh Brent comes back?

I have no idea. I don't even know if Brent can play. It's possible they put him on the NFI list if he's resigned. I don't know.

Hayden is gone. Yes, he is warrior but the Cowboys would be foolish to keep an aging, ineffective and pricey warrior over a young player with upside. Simply foolish.

I hope you're right.

T McClain is reaching Ben Bass legendary status! They've done nothing on the field due to injuries, yet they will be our DL saviors.

Until McClain gets on the field and beats out some one he is just as jag.
