Theebs posted a video where T.O. Dad was sick.

I thought I would look in the Atlanta Journal Newspaper.

Found this and the timing is sure right.

Family-Placed Death Notice

OWENS, Tony Funeral Services for Mr. Tony Andree Owens, who passed unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 17, 2008, will be held 11 AM Monday, June 23, 2008 in the Chapel at Haugabrooks Funeral Home, Rev. Dr. J. S. Pelt, Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, officiating. Interment, Georgia National Cemetery, Canton. Tony is survived by a devoted sister, Debbie Renee Owens; a father, Charlie Owens; and a host of aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. Family will assemble at the residence at 10 AM. Haugabrooks Funeral Home, 404-522-8217.

If so, the prayers go out to the Terrell and family.

Not to hijack the thread, but I thought I had heard that TO had no relationship with his dad.

As far as I know, this could be totally wrong. Just funny about the timing and him mentioning that his Dad was sick.
He must have had something going, if he mentioned it on air.

By the way, Link to the obit.

I don't think he had any real relationship with his dad.

His father actually lived across the street from T.O. when he was a child. His dad lived with a wife and family of his own that he had started prior to having Terrell. T.O. knew the man across the street for years before ever learning it was his father.

That article doesn't mention T.O. as a surviving next of kin so who knows if it's true.

Maybe it was a situation where TO decided he should go despite not having much of a relationship with the man he found out to be his father. After all, nobody but TO & maybe the grandmother (or was it his mother) who raised him really knew/understand what kind of mixed feelings TO really felt towards his so called father.

Wow never heard that. What a twisted scenario.

I hope the Media doesn't plague him with questions that are deeply personal at a time like this. They will stop at nothing to get a juicy story. :(

No matter what went down the man was his father. There is a connection there that no matter what will be felt. As lousy a life as TO had as a kid its still going to be there.
He probably is feeling very conflicted right now.

Not likely him since Terrell grew up in Alabama. Yes, he has a home in Atlanta, but that doesn't mean his dad does.

Plus if he didn't really know who his dad was for most of his childhood, even if he had lived across the street, I'd doubt that they would have the same last name.

Why is that? Women give their kids the father's last name all the time, especially if she and the man are on good terms at the time of the birth.

As for this being in Atlanta vs Alabama, people move all the time. Very possible, Pops moved too.

There are stories all the time about people developing relationships with their parents after they've become adults. So while they might not have been close, I'd hazard that T.O. has/had enough of a relationship with his father to pay his respect if he indeed passed away.

Granted, it's all speculation, but you can't really discount any scenario.

Regardless of it all, someone in T.O.'s family passed away, so keep him in your good thoughts.

If they were on good terms, TO probably would have known that he was his dad. If the guy lived across the street, and they were on bad terms, I find it doubtful that he would have the same last name.

I mean think about it... this guy lives across the street with the same last name as you, and you know him, but don't realize he is your dad? I'd think the same last name would kind of be a tip off for any kid wondering who his dad is.

I could call the guys running his Camp and find out more, but I really don't want to pry. I figure if Terrell wants people to know, he will let people know.

I assume you haven't read Hos' post.

But anyway, tswo people can be on good terms at the time of the birth and then fall out soon after the child was born and too young to know any better. The mother starts wildin' out. The father moves on to his new life. The rest of the family just leaves well enough alone.

Pep, you just gotta think dysfunctional. It happens. I know some people it's personally happened to; not to where their pops are across the street, but close enough.

Yeah I saw Hos' post.

And I wasn't saying it wasn't possible, just doubtful. ;)
