Terrell Owens on possible comeback: 'I know I could still play'

Terrell Owens is always quick with a good sound bite. It should come as no surprise, then, that in his most recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, TO made it clear that not only is he still in great shape, but he could still make an NFL comeback, if opportunity knocked.

"I'm ready to go right now," Owens said. When asked by Eisen if he could play every snap, Owens replied, "I'm not gonna say it's full game, but I could give you at least 75 percent of the game.

"I haven't officially retired," he continued. "Given the right opportunity, I know I could still play."

When last seen on an NFL field, Owens was suiting up for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010. He caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns that season, but that was five years ago. He was 36 years old for most of the year, and turned 37 in December. Now, he's 41. But as TO says, "I know I'm one of those guys that could really defy the odds. I'm not your average 41-year-old."

"I'm ready to go right now," Owens said.

Maybe quoting song lyrics from 2008 isn't the best way to say you can play in 2015.

It would be entertaining. Not on this team of course...but I can't say I wouldn't watch him if he suited up for another team. The guy is charismatic.

I will never forget how bad I felt watching that supermodel curse him out when they had that celebrity athlete beach Olympics show. His foot was stuck in the net and she just went straight up trailer park on him.

I dont doubt that he could at least contribute as an NFL player. Hes not going to be pushing legit number one guys though.

Receivers can play at that age but if you were a speed guy you better have good hands at 41 because you will be mor of a possession guy. TO always had suspect hands.

If he worked super hard on his hands and route running to perfection he could probably contribute a small amount to a team here and there as a 4th or 5th receiver. On a really good day he might be able to add an occasional 3rd WR performance but that would be pretty lucky.

Usually your 4th and 5th guy play ST, no way will a 41 year old Ownes play ST, the only way he could make a team is if he really performed well and the #3 guy is too old to be a development guy. That being said i think he could crack the #3 on a couple of teams like the Eagles, and Rams, KC, Maybe Oakland, I think he could be the 3rd best guy in SF. The issue is all those places ahve fragile QBs that couldn't handle his antics.

It all comes down to this really. He isn't a #1 or #2 so the question is could he be a #3 or not. By the time you factor in his contract and the attention/distraction he would cause it's just not worth it.

Just let it go TO.

He's starting to be like that 28 yr old who still wears his letterman and zones out from time to time thinking about almost winning state.
