Anyone *Cough*Nors*Cough* still think he can't play the run?

Anyone still think he's gonna get plowed by our OL? (whoops I forgot to put in the *cough*nors*cough).

And is anyone else still complaining about Torrin Tucker?

Flozell Adams: 3 FALSE STARTS, 1 sack allowed

Tucker: 0 penalties, 0 sacks allowed, and he was facing one of the best pass rushers in the NFL today (Suggs). The same Terrell Suggs that made Flozell Adams look like Soloman Page.

I thought our offense was pretty good on pass-blocking... we SUCKED on run blocking...

I didn't see anything that great about Suggs... he was OK... not spectacular...

Since I assume this is a Suggs vs. Newman thing... how many passes were caught on Newman? I really wasn't counting...

The problem is that we have Flo playing LT when he should be playing RT.

We have Tucker playing RT when he should be playing guard.

We have Rogers on the inactive list when he should be playing LT.

The basic problem is Warhop is terrible.

I'm still not impressed much with Suggs. He is helped out a lot by the scheme/talent around him for one on one matchups against guys like Reshard Lee.

I say Tucker sucks.

As far as Suggs goes, I wanted to draft him and everyone wanted Newman. I explained over and over how long it takes Rookie CB's to start playing well. The key to acquiring a CB is free agency. CB's get killed in the NFL for their first two or three years. Never, ever draft a CB. Suggs could be ours.

Good thinking... Wait for free agency when their market (over)value is at its highest...

Yes he could have.........................and I am still ^&*^^%^%^^*(

I also wanted us to draft Suggs, but then with a complete idiot like zimmy WUSS, everyone would be calling for him to be cut because occupy & engage doesn't work for ANYONE!

Agreed.

BP handpicked Warhop. I'm still holding out hope.

He was stuffing plays in our backfield all day long.

Since I assume this is a Suggs vs. Newman thing...

You assume wrong. I like Newman. I was happy we drafted him. This is about Nors being wrong about Suggs (what else is new?). We had a few "discussions" about Suggs over at the 'other' board a couple of years ago.

It was basically him talking out his *** about Suggs and me proving him wrong time and time and time and time again, and now Suggs is the one proving him wrong time and time and time and time again.

And he beats Lee on the matchups, that was great players do. He also beat our probowl LT.

Nors said Suggs couldn't play the run, yet Suggs was stuffing running plays in the backfield all day long.

I say Tucker sucks.

Tucker actually did a solid job pass blocking Suggs. Suggs beat him a couple of times, but not badly. Not nearly as badly as he beat Flo.

Suggs could be ours.

Yeah he can, and I'd love to have him, but I'm also very happy with Terence Newman.

Besides, Zimmer would of ruined Terrell Suggs. He would of taken Suggs' great pass rushing talent, crumbled it up, put it in a blender and hit "frappe", poored it out, pissed on it, poor some gasoline on it and lit it, pissed on it again, then flushed it down the toilet. Pretty much what he's doing to Roy Williams' great talent right now.

I wanted Suggs over Newman then..................and I'd trade straight up right now - no questions asked.

I do find it odd...that many complain about nors starting stuff, which he has earned a weeks ban for doing I might add, yet others are starting stuff towards nors.

Just something to think about.

I'm not starting anything with Nors. The TSuggs thing has been started a long time ago. And I didn't put Nors name in the subject title, did I? No.

And if your trying to threaten me it ain't gonna work. Just ban me if that's what you want to do. DOn't try to act all hotshot before doing it. It's just an internet message board. I think I'd get over it.

Gee...I guess this may have given me the idea...

Furthermore don't get your feathers all ruffled about a ban...man alive I was pointing out that NORs got a ban for doing stuff to flame people and to not do the same thing as he is doing after people complained about it.

Lighten up Francis.

One, for 1 yard. On that play (9:29 left in the first quarter), Kevin Johnson went in motion to the offense's left, and Newman followed him to the other side of the field. Johnson then ran a crossing route underneath the linebackers. Newman was screened off by the linebackers and the ref. Johnson caught the pass, and Coakley made the tackle for a 1-yard gain, with Newman behind Coakley. Newman never allowed another completion.

That's four consecutive games -- and six out of 10 for the season -- in which Newman has allowed only one completion. He had only three such games all of last season. In the past four games, Newman has allowed a total of four catches for 45 yards. And only two of those went for first downs.

Adam,

Do you happen to have Newman's season averages for catches allowed and receiving yards allowed per game?

Rich..............

I've reviewed every game but the Pittsburgh game to see how many catches he has allowed (I watched it, but I haven't gone over the tape yet). Newman reportedly allowed either eight or nine catches for between 108 and 113 yards (depending on the article). If we assume the worst and go with nine for 113, then has has allowed 29 catches for 374 yards and five touchdowns. That's an average of 2.9 catches for 37.4 yards and 0.5 TDs per game, which projects to 46.4 catches for 598.4 yards and eight TDs. Last season, he allowed 39 catches for 580 yards and one TD.

Here are Newman's game-by-game stats this season --

MIN -- 4-37, 2 TD
CLE -- 1-12, 1 int
WAS -- 6-49, 1 TD
NYG -- 1-16
PIT -- (9-113), 1 TD
GB -- 4-102, 1 TD
DET -- 1-29
CIN -- 1-2
PHI -- 1-13
BAL -- 1-1

So in other words, the talk of Newman being a bust is bunk?

Well, Yes, a big part of it was directed at Nors, but it wasn't all about Nors. Just a tiny bit of it, like.... 89.2%.

That's just f'in insane. Imagine how well he'd be doing if we had a pass rush.

I'd say so. Even if he were having a bad year (which he isn't) it would be ignorant to call him a bust considering he's got to cover for 45 seconds every play.

Of course it is. Busts don't play as well as he did as a rookie. He had a rough start to this season, and he still would have to be considered disappointing overall this season (mostly because of the touchdowns he has allowed). But he's definitely been playing at a top level for the past four games.
