Neither Hoyer, Mallett or Savage have proven themselves any better than Weeden. That's just silly. There is absolutely no game footage to back that statement up.

Weeden has more yards and more touchdowns and nearly the same rating, even being in the league 3 seasons less than Hoyer.

Mallet has potential, but has one of the slowest releases in history and hasn't proven anything over a significant stretch.

Savage has never started an NFL game and was a streaky QB in college. He has the tools but need a lot of work.

I might take Mallet over Weeden, since we have the line to keep him upright, but Hoyer and Savage would be lateral moves.

All I can say is I've seen every snap that all of these qbs have played in the preseason, and I stand by my statement. None of our backup qb's would make the Texans roster.

Based on what?

I guess we'll just take your word for it.

Based on the fact that I've seen them both play. I get a lot of Cleveland games around here and I saw them both play a lot then too. Not saying Hoyer is anything but mediocre but Weeden isn't even that.

I'm willing to hear a legitimate argument for why Hoyer is better, but no one is making one.

Weeden is an adequate back up. He's not the heir apparent and won't get you to the playoffs if he's forced to start a majority of games, but neither will Hoyer. If Hoyer is better, it's by a negligible margin that is overshadowed by their compensation margin.

The eye test. The Texans preseason footage is out there on the web somewhere. Find it, and you'll see what I've seen: Hoyer has looked like a marginally competent (if nothing special) NFL qb. Weeden has looked like...well, like Weeden.

Someone needs to go back and watch last season's Cards game.

Weeden will get us the number 1 draft pick. He's that bad.

Weeden definitely isn't starting caliber QB. The argument is in regards to Weeden versus every QB on the Texans roster being significantly better. That's the statement that was made. That is what I am arguing against.
