As a Longhorn fan I'm not disappointed by this news.

That makes sense.
It is a tough deal either way.

I actually think the move to the SEC makes a lot more sense for UT than OU.
OU and UT were in the top 3 in athletic budgets BEFORE the move.
And OU was waltzing to a title game every year with a trip to CFP every couple.
Walking away from that is kinda nuts IMO.

UT has had well above B12 level talent on campus but the constant wave of underdogs nipping at their heels wears them down yearly.
Maybe life is better as the underdog 4-6 times per year.

All in all I think it'll be fun and interesting in 2023.
Not sure how it'll feel come 2024.

Right now Tech and Texas play in Austin on Black Friday which could be a monster final ever B12 game for UT. --pre-season rankings have seen UT at 12 and Tech at 24.

It’s not like the SEC is suffering until then. Bama just scored the #1 recruiting class again.

Yup. SEC has stated all along they were very content to just wait til 2025.
I'm not even sure they cared at all TBH, it was mostly ESPN wanting this deal.

People do not understand just how much of this has been ESPN/FOX driven.

And it is ESPN/FOX holding up the move.
They are the ones paying out the big money and making the decisions.

Bama is in a hole regardless. They return the 125th most production from last year. Out of 133 teams.
Ask TAMU how the top rated class translates that first year?
Not sure they favor over LSU, Georgia, Tennessee in the SEC.
But surprise, surprise they miss Georgia again in the regular season for like the 15th year in a row.
SEC scheduling is literal trash right now.
Thats the biggest perk of the OU/UT move.
Get SEC to 9 conf games and drop the week 10 little sisters of the poor game that doubles as a 2nd BYE.

I hate the SEC's schedule where, except for 1 cross-divisional rival, each team plays each of the other division teams once every 6 years. Texas A&M has been in the SEC a decade now and only has played UGA once..

I hope the 16 team SEC goes to "pods" of 4 teams each where you are guaranteed playing every conference foe at least once every 2 years...

This did not age well.
Gotta give it to Yormark does not play.
Laid out three things he wanted to accomplish.

Get a tv deal.
Negotiate a deal or UT and OU to leave
More expansion

Two down, third one to come.

Rumor is it will be a 3-team rival block and then round robin to assure you play in every stadium every 4 years and every opponent every 2.

From outside the SEC you see the dominance but then also the corrupt nature of everything they do.
People are openly crying over NIL but Georgia has a recruiting budget of 4.5M just recruiting not NIL.
8 conf games with a 4th OOC versus a softball team in like week 10 when every major conference is facing each other.
Magically avoid top seeds in opposing matching up for MANY YEARS.
Shuffle Bowl game participation as the only conf who dictates what team plays where.

Arizona beat writer Jason Scheer is reporting PAC Commish GK has 2 months to save conference. If he doesn't have the deal in place and GofR signed teams will look to B12.
I still think UA/ASU are likely to go B12 and then B12 hopes that draws Washington and Oregon.
But heat and pressure could create a ton of sea level change quick for those schools.

The recent Athletic report (which has been very pro P12) quotes a P12 AD and states GK over-promised and is really under the gun now.
ESPN just announced they must cut 5.5 Billion and just consolidated ESPN. Rumor is they pulled the offer they had for P12 Media rights.
CBS/NBC/FOX all but publicly stated they were out. that would mean 100% streaming.
Rumor is best P12 deal on table currently is 25M a year per team and desire to add SMU/SDSU is to give them partial pay outs to boost the remaining members numbers close to B12.
If true hard to imagine Arizona and ASU staying for less money and ALL streaming.

SEC = NFL Jr. I would feel safer drafting players from the SEC knowing they probably played against the same guys they will in the Pros.

Going to be like Jimmy’s Miami in the 80’s when he said his college teams could have beat some NFL teams at the time.

And that is with 8 conf games. Wait til they see it with 9.
OU's schedule is a fair bit harder than UTs so that is who I have mostly seen on twitter complaining.

Is this real? If so, UT is going to get the crap kicked out of them on a yearly basis.

I wish that city all of the misery that they can get.
No actual schedules have been released.
We don't know much beyond the one season.

OU got a much tougher sched on paper in year 1 of SEC play.
