Former Texas defensive tackle Lamarr Houston has accepted an invitation by the NFL to attend the three-day draft ceremony in New York City later this month.
Houston confirmed to the American-Statesman on Friday that he told the NFL he would attend.
The NFL decided to stretch the draft to three days this year, with the first round on April 22. Officials have invited at least two dozen players to the festivities, a departure from past years when only a handful of players who were expected to be selected early were invited.
Houston's draft stock has risen through the scouting season. ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said this week that Houston could be taken in the second round. Gil Brandt, chief draft analyst for NFL.com, has ranked Houston among the top 50 players available.
Quarterback Colt McCoy also has been invited to the draft, but said last week that he has yet to decide whether he will attend.
Meanwhile, safety Earl Thomas has been spending a lot of time visiting NFL teams. The potential first-rounder has visited Miami, Cleveland, Tennessee and Pittsburgh this week.
