I play the free version on Pure Play. I usually do ok. Since there is no "real" money in play, there are a ton of what I call "all in idiots". So, after the first hand you can usually play poker.

I play around the poker community a lot lately. Last year my earnings were 12K. This year I'm down just a tad. I do it for fun. I go with a limit to spend and watch everyone else by so many chips that they don't need. It's sort of a yuppy environment. I sit around and wait. I made 600 Saturday. The only problem was it took me 10 hours of play off of a 100 buy in. But that's not a bad night's work.

In New Orleans I schooled a bunch of Bama boys at Harrah's. I get into it for the game mostly, but I don't play like an idiot. And I treat it like business if I do it.

I used to play all the time with my buddies, now just occasionally. I ALWAYS lose.

No lie, I'm the worst poker player on the planet. Can't bluff, no poker face, and no patience. Plus I always have terrible cards :laugh2:

i'm in a new place and don't have people to play with and haven't been online playing since pokerstars got hit.
I love it and in person I rarely miss the money, online I lose a lot more because there is no interaction, no social cues, no way to read the player, no way for you to play the player. I have found that you have to get into higher dollar buy ins to avoid stupid players that go all in all the time or noobs that luck out at the right time in hands they have no business being in. I don't often have that much extra income to be able to risk losing those type buy ins so I don't do it often

What do you mean? You have to wait. Poker is a waiting game more than anything else.

I play on xbox sometimes for practice. People talk, that's the only cue you get. But I didn't know you could play for money online... I play with 100, sometimes 200, a week. Mostly because I can justify it. This year I got down, but hey, that happens. I still have my poker bankroll from last year.

you used to be able to play for money online, I'm sure there are still places to do this but after the gov stepped in on pokerstars I stopped because I had had problems getting my payout from other services and didn't feel like trying to find another one and going through that again

I play quite a bit. I do pretty well in tourneys but am really up and down in cash games. I just havent been able to find a good style of play for cash games. I win $500, then lose $300 the next two times.

I play now and then. Only will play a $20 buy in with friends. Winner take all. I don't play to win. I play to enjoy the night playing cards with them. I do pretty well. I have been one of the last 3 every time we've ever played and won a couple of times.

I love Poker, but I don't gamble.

I will play with friends and the buy in is usually like $20 and all bets are in coinage. Max bet is usually $.25 or $.50 depending on how much time we have to play.

I used to play the non-betting online games, but too many idiots who go all in every time. If it were a single idiot okay, but you get 2-3 of them sitting at the table at all times.

The only reason we use money at all in the friendly game is to keep it honest. We also only allow a single buy-in though we will make an exception if someone was just having really terrible luck. (like continuously losing we good hands. Not just playing stupid)

I own a really nice set of clay chips.

They look very similar to these, though not quite as busy.

I've been doing that for 10 years. Small games with friends. You can't go wrong. I started doing well. I've played for so long and sort of know how to play, so I just started doing a little more. My senses tell me I should stop playing as much. And I probably will. Often times, in order to win like I want to, it can take 12 hours (which is crazy hours when the game starts at 8pm).

I used to play all the time, even tried to be a pro before poker blew up (1995). Back then all you could play was limit hold'em, no limit was no where to be found.

Then Planet Poker, Paradise amd Party Poker started online and I played and won a lot of money there. Even won a 14K WSOP package in 2006 on Bodog.

I was too busy at work to keep up with the game and my win rate dropped dramaitically. There are kids who started playing non stop and they became great, playing tons of tables at one time. The game just kept getting tougher and tougher and tighter and tighter to the point where it wasn't as much fun anymore.

I played a lot of tournaments on Pokerstars up until last April when the sorry US government killed the poker industry.

There was a time when you could literally print money, but those days are long gone. There may be a resurgence if online poker gets legalized but it will most likely just benefit the people who have played millions of hands and played for a living the last 10 years.

Some of these kids are multimillionaires all from the game of poker. Look up the names Tom Dwan and Phil Galfond. Both are really sharp guys and amazing players. Speculation is that they've won over 10 million or more each. You can see some Youtube videos where Tom Dwan wins a million dollar pot.
