I am looking at moving my son and I to Texas in the next few months. Why? Well, I have actually had my fill of Alaska. I can't take these winters anymore. You really can only do so much up here. After 20+ years of my life spent living here, I have done most of it.

What I am looking for is a good/secure IT job in the DFW area. If anyone knows some well established companies who may be looking to hire, please drop some information for me in this thread.

I have plenty of IT experience. About 15 years atm.

My main areas of expertise are Neworking and Unix System Administration.

For the time being. I will be training in VMware administration and support while leading an Exchange migration project for my department with the state. About 1200 users.

I would appreciate any help you fine folks could lend.

Thank you in advance...

TJ

Don't know what specific companies are up there... But I'd look on monster.com and careerbuilder.com, of course. Another site, on the top of my head is dice.com. Used to use that when I was contracting alot.

Thanks WG!! I do have my resumes out w/ CB and Monsters. I am just utilizing as many resources as I can. :D

Thanks again...

Dallas--- You live in Alaska??? That's as bad as living in Olean, the home of the Winicki's.

Geez, I imagine Alaska to Texas is going to be quite a culture shock for ya...not to mention the Texans.

Wouldn't you be happier just a bit farther N than Tx.... ohhh, say Norman for example!?

Seriously, you might want to do some investigating into the Telecom Corridor area of Richardson.

No problem. I'll check my desktop tomorrow for all my old bookmarks to IT job sites.

Oh yeah! Another one is computerjobs.com. Not as big as it used to be, but it used to get alot of good jobs when I was searching.

I'd try ***BANNED-URL***/classifieds. and star-telegram.com/classifieds too.

I used to live in Burleson, Tx. I spent 92-97 in the Arlington area. Loved it. I worked at National Semiconductor while there. Good place to work btw.

I might not pay homage to UT. Im a Sooner to the core. Still to me, Texas is the best damn place on the globe. It has everything most people want or need. Why go anyplace else?

BTW: Someone punch Taps in the face for me? Just cuz.

I've lived in NY my entire life. Greatest place on the planet NOT to live. :D

There so much here to take advantage of but the area is a grind.

I recently started to check out North Carolina.

I have been a resident of New York my entire life and can't wait to get out. I want a house with a yard and a pool. In 5 years I'm out of here. Plano or Trophy Club here I come. :D

No kidding. My wife and I were on Long Island the past year, and there were lots of people moving further south. North Carolina seems to be a popular destination. I have family near Raleigh and there's a lot of NYers selling their houses and using that and their pension to buy huge mansion-size estates.
