Longhorns junior cornerback Aaron Williams will put his name in the 2011 NFL draft, his father, Anthony Williams, told the American-Statesman this afternoon.

Anthony Williams said Texas coaches were informed of the decision today.

The elder Williams said he and his son consulted with numerous former Longhorns as well as NFL scouts before Aaron made the decision. Anthony said Aaron received a report from the NFL indicating he’d be either a first- or second-round pick.

Underclassmen have until Jan. 15 to enter the draft. Williams said his son has not yet signed with an agent but will do so soon.

Horns CB to enter draft … Texas junior CB Aaron Williams has reportedly told coaches that he will be entering the 2011 NFL draft. The 6-0, 195-pound Williams reportedly runs in the 4.5 range and is considered to be a late first or early second round prospect for the upcoming draft.

I don't know if it's just because of the Texas connection, but he reminds me a lot of Aaron Ross. I rarely watch Texas games though.

He is a very good CB, with good ball skills, and will tackle....just don't let him return punts, cause he and Curtis Brown are muffs or fumbles waiting to happen.

He's a good one. Kinda gets overlooked because Texas' CBs have been awful the past 2-3 years but that was mainly due to Curtis and Chykie Brown. I've been impressed with Aaron Williams in coverage when he's been tested.

Plus, you gotta respect Texas and their history of putting out NFL DBs over the past 10 years. Quentin Jammer, Michael Huff, Cedric Griffin, Nathan Vasher, Aaron Ross, Tarrell Brown, Michael Griffin, Earl Thomas
