AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas freshman kick returner D.J. Monroe has been charged with drunken driving after a overnight arrest.

Monroe was arrested on Interstate 35 and taken to the Hays County jail, said Lt. Ler oy Opiela of the Hays County Sheriff's office. He was released Sunday morning after posting $3,000 bond.

Opiela said he did not have details of the arrest or who posted Monroe's bond.

A Texas spokesman said the team was aware of the arrest. Texas coach Mack Brown did not immediately issue a statement.

Monroe has two kickoff returns for touchdowns this season for the No. 3 Longhorns (10-0).

What an idiot. I would expect a 3 game suspension from Mack.

I wish another story would come out that some big lineman kicked his freaking arse for being so damn stupid.

He's a guy I've been wanting to get more touches on offense..Now I'm glad he didn't because it means they aren't losing much..on offense at least. He's a great kickoff returner..so Shipley may get called on..he's great at it also but He already returns punts and we need him healthy. Maybe try Goodwin.

Malcolm Williams will likely move into that roll over Goodwin. He's been 1-A on the DC at that spot all year.
