Former Texas football standout Noble Doss, famous for the "Impossible Catch" against defending national champion Texas A&M in 1940, died Sunday at age 88.
Doss' 32-yard over-the-shoulder catch led to the only touchdown in a 7-0 Longhorns upset. A two-way star, Doss set a Texas career interception record with 17, since equaled by Nathan Vasher. Yet Doss was haunted by a dropped pass against Baylor in 1941 that possibly cost Texas a trip to the Rose Bowl.
Doss eventually played two seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles and another season for the New York Yankees in the All-American Football Conference. He later became a successful Austin insurance agent.
R.I.P. Mr Doss.
'Till Gabriel blows his horn.
