I'm doubting that is a 97 pound snake. The way the man is holding him up with his hands that close together and without much straining just doesn't look right. Additionally each foot of the snake would have to average out to 10 pounds in weight. That sounds like a big fish story to me. It is a big snake however.

Total BS, that makes it have to weigh OVER 10 lbs a foot.

On average, according to the Zooilogical Society of the US, a seven-foot wild rattler, would weigh about 15 pounds and an eight-foot snake would weigh 23 pounds.

maybe it was suppose to be 9.7 pounds but that would be a bit light or maybe it was 9.7 KG which would be around 21 - 22 pounds

That snake is thick, so I don't doubt 97 lbs for a 9ft long snake. That part sounds about right. The depth perception in the picture may not make it clear how far apart his hands are placed. It could be a fake picture and story, but I would not doubt the weight of the snake for that length. They are all muscle.

I set the world's long jump record because of a rattle snake but no one besides me will ever recognize it.

I used to train for football buy running through the bushes with a football tucked under my arm. I would dodge the bushes as if they were tacklers. If one brushed me I was tackled.

So I'm running through the desert one day and as I rounded a corner there was about a 6 foot long rattler right in front of me. For whatever reason unknown to me I went airborn immediately and when I landed I looked back and the snake was now curled up and rattling. From where I took off to where I landed has got to be the longest jump every made by a human being.

Adrenaline is an amazing motivator.

I never ran through the bushes again to train for football. It had never dawned on me that I might discover a snake.

Yes, I went home and changed my underwear, because first you say it, then you do it.
