Texas Stadium farewell logo

Nice, but they should have worked in a Fedora

It's Texas Stadium not Tom Landry Stadium.

Lots of big named stadiums closing this year. Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, and Texas Stadium.

I finally made it to Shea this year when the Texas Rangers came to Queens. It's a stinky dump. (it's actually stinks)

I've been to Yankee Stadium many times. It's pretty much a dump too, but it evokes big-time nostalgia. If you've never been, it's worth the plane, hotel, and ticket to the game. The new Yankee Stadium going up right next door pretty much reminds me of StoneBriar Mall. (thought I haven't been to StoneBriar Ball is many years) It's all lime stone and granite.

Texas Stadium. Well, it's an ugly concrete pit with a roof that hasn't been painted since Jerry Jones took over the team, but it has one good thing I can say about it. I don't think it has one bad seat in the house. My first trip that I can remember of Texas Stadium was a Truck and Tractor Pull that featured Big Foot, Grave Digger, and the Silver Bullet rocket powered monster truck, but the Silver Bullet broke down and didn't come out :(

I had been to a few games before the truck and tractor pull, but I was to young to remember.

The best thing about TS is the history -- other than that, it sucks. I do agree that every damn seat in there is pretty good.

I'm moving from the lower level to the upper level in the new one, we'll see how it is. :starspin

Yankee stadium is no dump.

Shea stadium is one of the most disgusting places on the planet. Its a horrendous venue.

I think it would be great to see Texas Stadium host an NFC Championship game one last time before it closes:starspin

Yankee Stadium is Yankee Stadium. It's greatness is it's history.

Beyond that it's a dump, but thats what you get with a 80 something year old stadium that was last renovated 33 years ago. How do you like the single bullhorn speaker in the bleachers? The sound system/bathrooms/consession/seats/seating numbering/etc are all pathetic. The only thing I like physically is the fact that it's close to being completely symmetrical.

As I noted though, if someone hasn't been there. It's worth a small forture to go see it before it closes.
