NFL Combine Senior Bowl Media Contact Combine Live Wire: Saturday
27
Feb
RB or WR?
Full workouts begin today! The offensive linemen and tight ends will be running and working out. As always the media will be meeting with players, multiple coaches, and NFL personnel. Tony Pauline and Brent Sobleski are on site to feed live updates throughout the day. Check back often!
UPDATE 11:45 AM – More Player Highlights.
Dexter McCluster, ATH Mississippi
- Measured in at 5-feet-8-inches tall and 172 pounds. It should be noted the weight is a 7 pound increase from the Senior Bowl.
- Obviously size could be a concern, yet the feedback McCluster has received is “….teams really don’t care, they say ‘You’re a football player’. I am set to prove there is something different about me.”
- Many teams have been “surprisingly” talking to him about being a running back at the next level. What they are looking for in his game is similar to what he did in college, “creating mismatches”.
- Special teams will be an area of strength in his game. The athlete prefers punt return over kick return because it requires more quickness. Also, McCluster talked about his willingness and love to play the gunner position, which he did as a sophomore.
- This season as a running back, McCluster began to really participate in the offense. Prior to this year when he was in the backfield, they knew it would be a run. He began to learn pass protections and blitz pickups in 2009.
- The New England Patriots spent plenty of time with this prospect at the Senior Bowl. They are looking at him as a wide receiver and “put him on the drawing board” during said time.
Keiland Williams, RB LSU
- Measured in at 5-feet-11-inches tall and weight 233 pounds.
- Will not work out here in Indianapolis due to a lingering injury.
Selvish Capers, OT West Virginia
- Measured in t 6-feet-4-inches tall and 308 pounds.
- Prior to his lackluster efforts at the Senior Bowl, Capers had never played left tackle in a game or practice.
