Sources have told us that Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are targeting two underclassmen cornerbacks in this draft; Brandon Harris of Miami and Patrick Peterson from LSU. Different sources have told us if the draft were held today the Cowboys would look to move up and grab Peterson, while Harris is a second choice they’d be happy with.

I'd be happy with B Harris as well, after moving down a few spots and picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder.

I'm utterly confused on Brandon Harris.

Has he decided to come out for the draft or is he staying at Miami?

Smoke screen. Smoke screen. Smoke screen. Smoke screen.

It's premature to smoke screen at this point much less to be targeting anyone.

I don't see it with Harris unless we're going to be primary zone.

More propaganda from Jerry.

My sources on the inside have instructed me to let everyone know that Dallas will indeed be targeting either an offensive or defensive player in the first round, likely a player who needs to be able to run sometimes.

This has nothing to do with his talent but your going to be hard pressed to find a smarter, more well spoken and enthusiastic player then Harris.

There is no way that I would trade up for Peterson, and Dallas would be foolish to trade down for a player like Harris and leave a higher rated defensive or offensive linemen on the board. Why would you trade up for Peterson when he's not nearly the safety that Eric Berry was at Tennessee or as highly rated as Earl Thomas.

If Peterson is drafted to play CB by the Cowboys, Newman is going to be gone. Furthermore, I think that would be a big mistake, because Newman has some good football left in him at CB and has earned the right of any benefit of the doubt over the last 8 years.

Trading up and drafting a some what risky player like Peterson, when he is not Champ Bailey or Eric Berry, would be foolish, imso. I wouldn't be too surprised if Peterson was there at number 9, and I wouldn't take him.

If you trade up for a defensive player, you go up for Marcell Dareus, not Peterson, imo. I hope that it is smoke. I don't like it at all.

I'm really wanting Tyron Smith right now, and if an offensive linemen goes in round one, I think it will be Smith. Furthermore, I think it will be the Cowboys that take him. If Dallas doesn't take Smith, he will not last long after 9, but he will likely pass Washington, who will either take Julio Jones or a QB.

Fixing the front seven goes a long way toward fixing the secondary.

You don't keep a player around because they "earned the benefit of the doubt." If he can't play, he can't play.

FWIW, Bryan Broadduss mentioned that there are some in the Cowboys front office that weren't happy with T-New's play this past season.

Marcel Dareus? Trading up for a player like Dareus would be a tremendous mistake; not only will you lose draft picks, but you're also acquiring a rather mediocre player at a non-impact position.

Smith will drop do to his weight. If he manages to put on the 20-30 lbs he needs to play Tackle in the NFL, it will take some time for someone of his body build. Teams will not spend a first on a project if they have any brains.

Like a politician or a lawyer, never believe anything Jerruh says before the draft.

Brandon Harris entered the draft. Janoris Jenkins (UF) stayed in school.

I think Harris is better than Jenkins day one, as well.

There was an interview on dallascowboys.com with Stephen Jones and he and Mickey were talking draft. The only player Stephen mentioned by name was...you guessed it: Patrick Peterson.
