After the complete debacle that the Cowboys season has turned into, I have no idea what I'd do if it weren't for the Rangers.

I'm sure I'm not alone on this one. :D

Amen and agree.

Living in DFW and listening to sports radio here it is nice to hear they are not going on and on how bad the Cowboys are. They switch talk to the Rangers. :)

Like Galloway said this afternoon there is void here which is the Cowboys, but we have Rangers, Mavs season that starts tomorrow and the Stars are playing pretty decent to kind of fill it for time being.

The sad thing is that in 9 days or less the Rangers will be done for the year and we will still have to suffer through each week with the Cowboys.

This is the start of good things in Arlington.

The new regional television network will generate a large amount of annual revenue for the Rangers, which will give them more financial flexibility. With Jon Daniels' knack for finding gems, this will be huge.

It also will greatly improve their chances of keeping Cliff Lee beyond October, which I think are at about 75-80 percent now. Don't rule out the fact that his family and extended family (in-laws) are a mere 5 hour drive/45 minute flight from Arlington. Subsequently, also don't rule out the importance of the taxing in New York vs. Texas.. In New York, an 25 million dollar contract is essentially no different than a 18 million dollar contract in Texas. If it comes down to a million or two, I see him staying here.

This team has been built brilliantly. Their vital cogs have been picked up in trades, in some cases salary dumps.. Nelson Cruz was a throw in as part of the Carlos Lee deal. Elvis Andrus and Nefali Feliz were part of the Texieria deal. Josh Hamilton? Picked up for relatively cheap.

They hit well, they play tight defense, they are quick and solid on the basepaths.. Their pitching, outside of Lee, is respectable. Their bullpen is good.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them beat San Francisco in the least. It also wouldn't surprise me if this was just the first of their World Series appearances.

Game 1 was a bit of a disappointment. Definitely wasn't Lee's best performance, and O'Day and the bullpen wasn't so hot.

On the plus side, in a track meet, the Rangers win 9 out of 10, and the way they were able to hit Lincecum gave me faith that they're going to score in mass this series. If they can hit Timmy L, they can do the same, if not more to Cain, Sanchez and the other pitchers San Fran may trot out there.

I called it a six game series to start, and I'm sticking to that. I don't see the Giants continuing to hit at the pace they have. They're not built that way offensively.

Giants did what they had to against Lee - upped his pitch count and got into the bullpen.

Not really much you can do about that as a manager.

Lee didn't have nearly the control he normally does. That's unfortunate.

Hopefully CJ comes out and pitches well.

That's the thing about pitchers..

Some days your on, some days your off.. Cliff was off last night, however make no mistake, his next outing he'll be on again.

I didn't get to see last nights game though I did DVR it. (not sure I want to see it)

Reading the websites, it sounds like putting Vlad in right field was a huge mistake. Not sure exactly what happen.

Obviously Cliff was off last night. Eight days off is probably what did it.

It appears Kinsler got picked off again. He gets kind of lazy on the base paths sometimes. Thats twice in the playoffs he has been picked off.

I see Young had an error. Hopefully game 1 was just nerves and they will get over that.

I think the last thing the Giants want is to get into a slug fest with the Rangers. I don't think that is something they can win. I'm sure the Rangers won't continue to play terrible baseball like they did in game 1.

It may have been nerves.. They also may have had their "thud game". Rather get it out of the way now than have it happen in a crucial game (6-7).

I 100 percent agree, the last thing San Francisco can afford is to play tit for tat with the Rangers in terms of hits. If there was a bright light in last night's game, the way they were able to hit Lincecum gives me faith in the long run.

Heard from a few ESPN blogs and interviews that Vlad appears to be starting again in RF tonight. Hope thats not the case, I am all for giving Vlad a second chance and I really doubt he has the errors and shakes again but it was obvious he was slow last night, put Murp or cruz out there and we are much better deffensively. Im all for giving Vlad a shot at redemption but let him do it pinch hitting. One thing in Vlad's favor though is he has the best arm in our outfield.

No. Hamilton and Cruz both and canons and both are quite accurate to boot. Both have gunned several people down from the outfield this season.
