I wanted to make a post to keep a positive theme going on the forum.

Since Ireland has been here he's taken a bunch of no name players, found them, and allowed BP and our coaching staff to turn them into something.

Regardless of if Tony Romo becomes the starting QB, tomorrow, next year, 2 years from now, or just stays as a career backup, this man brought him in. An UDRFA being thought of as a possible starting QB is nuts. The fact that there's even a debate that he COULD one day be the starter just shows a little of what Ireland has done.

How about other names like Patrick Crayton in the 7th, Jacques Reeves in the 6th, Rob Petitti in the 6th, and camp studs Pat Watkins in the 5th and Sam Hurd as a UDRFA.

Crayton and Hurd could be our starting 2 after TO and TG leave. That is not to say they definately will, but myself and people around the forum got excited about Crayton last year before the injury. And those same people are getting really excited about the prospects of how Sam Hurd could turn out in a few years.

Reeves has played solid and after Aaron Glenn leaves he will be our nickel corner. And from how I've seen him play, I'm confident he can do that.

Rob Petitti was a nothing, fat, out of shape, 6th rounder. Ireland saw something in him. Well even though much of you guys complained, and including myself sometimes, he started all 16 games last year. Name another 6th rounder at any position that started all 16 games as a rookie. I personally think he's going to start this year and this Columbo with the first team stuff is just to get him some extra reps. And at worst Petitti is a backup "swing" tackle. Not bad for a 6th rounder.

As far as Watkins and Hurd, no one knows. But Hurd has shown a ton of promise, talent, and a willingness to learn. "Spiderman" Watkins is tearing it up in TC and garning consideration to start. Not bad for a 5th rounder.

I know it's gonna be hard to do, but everyone who's freaking out about lack of depth or Vandy missing FGs in TC! just take a deep breath, relax and trust Jerry, Billy P, and Jeff Ireland. IN IRELAND WE TRUST!

Well for me people just need to have reasonable expectations. I mean you can't be perfect 100% of the time. Every time something bad happens you should tell yourself "at least I'm not a Lions fan".

I agree.
These last two drafts have produced a great deal of football players.
These guys we drafted are not just bodies taking up space out there.
I have been an Ireland fan since the first draft he was in charge of.
The guy is hungry to learn too.
Read an article in the Dallas Cowboys Weekly where Parcells explained that Ireland wants to see what Parcells see's in players.
In other words he wants to be able to get players that fit his style. These two guys have worked really well together.
With Ireland's zeal to get more knowledge and Parcells willingness to share it, our future is bright.
Ireland is this organization's best kept secret.
You got Stephen Jones working his magic with the salary cap and contracts and Ireland's ability to keep finding players.
Jones and Ireland can be the future of this organization.
Will Jerry be able to keep Ireland here for a long time?
I really hope so.
