Gee, ya think on the Jimmy front?
Parcells was more reputation than chutzpah. Parcells was doing essentially what Landry did and live off his success as the game was moving past him. Parcells had a knock to exit town before his great experiment sunk with epic proportions, like the Alamo, or the last season of Happy days.
The rest of your reply is a rehash of so many threads that fall under the 20/20 hindsight column of fan utterances.
Sorry Hennessy, but your battleplan that sounds so logical lacks any authenticity. We are fans who know the answer right after the play/series/quarter/half/game/season fails.
I'm sorry, but anytime you get a mediocre team to the playoffs with Quincy Carter at quarterback, you're worth your weight in coaching.
I do fault Parcells for his game approach to Seattle (not attacking a Seahawks secondary with a postal worker signed as corner back prior to the game), but I understand it. Parcells was always conservative.
But Parcells teams competed. Landry's team bottomed out at 3-13. Parcells bottomed out at 9-7. And we don't know what would have happened had Jerry not forced T.O. on him.
