Florida was granted a chance to play for the national title. Had it not been for him lobbying the bean counters vocally after winning the SEC Championship This game would never happened. I give Urban Meyer major props for stepping up to the mic after that game and laying it down for his team.

:bravo: :bravo: :bravo:

I just want to add that speed kills on defense. Just ask Urban Meyer.

But how can anyone really say that without his lobbying that the voters wouldn't have chosen the gators anyway? One loss team from the SEC should always go play for the championship in my opinon.

There's the SEC, then everyone else. IMO

that #94 was an absolute monster.....reminded me of Charles Haley when he played for us.....especially that game against Pittsburgh when he had 4 sacks

It was well speculated around the mediot circles that he openly lobbied the committee to choose Florida after that SEC Championship game. Nothing says they wouldn't have gone anyway but I guarantee you if anyone was teetering between them and (yuck) Michgan again Meyer convinced them with his pointed speech about giving Florida the chance they deserve.

IMO too, but not in the medias...they're infatuated with big city teams and would rather forget the south exists.

I remember it. I just don't think that if I were on the fence on an issue like that, that hearing a coach lobby would sway me either way.

But regardless, thats just me. I really had no problem with the gators being there. One loss, SEC champion. Good enough for me.

At least it wasn't USC. Damn I hate that team.

well its been that way for a few years now, definitely proven to be the toughest conference as of late....the Big 12/Big 8 used to be that but has been awful lately. Imagine if Nebraska had beaten OU in the championship game....gross
Big 10 used to be a bigtime power conference....I still think Wisconsin was one of the best one loss, most underrated teams all season.

Sure would've been great to see a playoff, in which case it probably would've been USC and Florida in the champ. game...what a treat.
There is really getting to be less and less of an argument for non-"power" conference champs to get a legit shot at a title. Its unfair and Boise St and Rutgers proved that it can not only play, but beat the "powerhouses".
Boise St and Rutgers both deserved at least a chance this year. Its morally wrong and a travesty to a GREAT sport.
Congrats to Florida though, they were obviously the best team in the country. I've never seen a Tressel team so outcoached and outprepared. That was the most shocking to me.

I want Meyer as our next head coach. His team showed a lot of heart today. Something that my Dallas Cowboys have been lacking for years.

I agree. The problem is that the media argues that the SEC never travels for tough games throughout the season. The SEC is a beast and doesn't get the national recognition that it should.
