Though we are loyal to different teams, we are all fans and understand the devastating impact this has on the Commander family. The NFC East has always been the class of the NFL in our teams as well as our fans. We stand with you in mourning.
I have been a die hard Cowboys' fan since their inception in 1960. I was a very young man living in Dallas when the franchise started. Over the entire history of the franchise, I have had many reasons and opportunities to be proud of the organization, the team and the fans.
However, after reading the manner in which the Cowboys' fans have responded to this horrible tragedy and expressed their grief and sorrow over the passing of one of the most talented and gifted players in the NFL, and have expressed genuine condolences to the Commanders' family and Sean Taylor's family, I have never been more proud of the Cowboys' fans in the history of the franchise.
I was at the doctor's office when I saw on TV about the passing and then I listened to Mr. Gibbs as he shared about Sean's faith in God and his faithful attendance to the chapel services the last year and a half and it brought a sense of comfort to my own heart in the middle of the shock concerning the tragedy and my grief for the family.
This wanton waste of a life overshadows any games that men play. It is encouraging to me to see the way the NFL family has responded and reached out to the Commanders family.
Our prayers are with the Taylor family.
