That game highlighted three problems

- The coaches
- The QB
- The WRs

All three lead to what is, arguably, one of the more ineffective offenses in football. People will point to the OL, and they certainly are not playing like they did in 2014 or 2016, but they also haven't been as bad as some claim when they try to state Dak is constantly running for his life. That's BS.

This team's issues are tied to the three areas above.

- Let's start with the WRs since Hurns is now the 2nd WR to ***** and complain that they are open and Dak is missing them. I do think there is some truth to that but the reality there isn't a WR on this team that teams fear, a WR that can make a play to help his QB out. Last night made that painfully obvious watching Hopkins for the Texans. Jones is having a very good year at CB and Hopkins just schooled him at times. Shoot, there were come catches where Jones had perfect coverage and Hopkins still made a tough catch. We have some guys that probably would make a decent #2 or #3 type WR but that's it. And when paired to a QB that isn't very good, their flaws are even more exposed. If you were able to bring in an upper level WR this offseason and paired him with Beasley, Hurns, Gallup........... now you have something.

- Prescott is what he is. At some point people have to accept that reality and stop thinking he's going to return to 2016 form. It's not happening. And frankly, I don't but the logic that he's "good enough" to win if everything else falls into place. The reality is that it's tough for everything to fall into place when you get suspect QB play. People are complaining about the OL play last night and not being able to run the ball but that's because the Texans DARED Dak to beat them. He couldn't. We rarely threaten the deeper parts of the field, and honestly, we rarely threaten the intermediate parts of the field as well. It's nothing but short passes. Some of that is by design, some of that is simply Prescott. A few times last night he took the quick dump off thinking he had pressure when, in fact, he did not. And people can blame Thompson and Austin for those interceptions but they were not good passes.

- The offensive coaches are just mediocre. That 3rd and 1 call last night in OT was bizarre and pretty much everyone knew that they were going to do. At times you see some decent creativity from them, like on the Hurns TD, but mostly it's the same old stuff over and over.

This team needs an offensive purge this offseason........ new coaches, new QB and figure out how to bring in a top notch WR.

Our WR's mistakenly used Flubber Spray on their hands instead of Stick'em. When a ball hits you in the hands, there is no escuse for it to bounce off into the defenses hands even if the pass is a little high or off. It still hit them in the freaking hands.

I’m a Dak fan but last night highlighted the issue with him and the offensive calls....consistency! One possession he’s getting the ball out quick, we are mixing it up and the O is playing downhill. Next possession it’s slow, plodding, messy. I put it more on playcalling than Dak but he’s not accurate when needed also. But chicken or the egg? Is he not succeeding or are we not putting him position to succeed? I always thought Dak threw better out of the pocket and on the move...we don’t do that

I mean, they had Beasley in the backfield! What else do you want to coaches to do? That play works 99.9% of the time.

Just because a pass hits in you in the hands, doesn't mean it should be a catch.

That Austin throw that turned into an interception was as much Dak's fault as Austin's. All Dak has to do is put it in a general area where Austin can catch and run and he might still be running. Instead, he throws it high where a midget WR has to go up and try to stretch and make the catch.

The Thompson throw was another bad throw. Low, on the back hip of Thompson where the DB can make a play with his hand and block the ball. Would a better WR made a better play on the ball? Maybe. But nevertheless, it was not a good throw.

Certainly bad luck in the sense that the balls popped up into the air and were intercepted but bad luck doesn't change the fact they weren't good throws.

If this team is going with AVG to Good WR...they need to focus on RUB routes to get them open....These WRs have a problem beating CB one on one....RUB routes and offensive game planning is a mess..... Cowboys are trying to emulate the Patriots Offense...without game planning ways to get the WR open....Dallas does Curl Routes....Patriots use RUB routes.....one is an embarrassment and one is a dynasty

How can you “Threathen Deep” when protection breaks down? Not saying the o-line is complete garbage but Dak doesn’t have time back there to allow Deep plays to develop...

Also these guys drop way too many passes, not saying Dak is accurate all the time but when he is, they don’t catch it....

Dak's footwork and ball placement have been terrible. Having a rookie coach who used to be his backup, who also had bad mechanics, probably isn't helping him.

Yep.

Remember all the fan boys saying people were too negative criticizing the Cowboys with the hiring of Moore as QB coach?

Good times.

People need to stop with this angle that Dak is under constant pressure. He's not. Now last night he saw more pressure, I agree. But people are literally acting like he's getting banged around like a pinball on a majority of his drop backs and that's simply not true.

I would like to see this Offense with a new OC. They were coming with run blitzes all night. Where was the toss plays. We could have burned them with runs. Again we had some drops by WR. And some poor QB play. 7 step drops is a mistake. Linehan shows the same old stuff. We will see run blitzes the rest of the year now. And our Defense could not get a sack for anything. They had the middle of the field all night. That really killed us.

nothing new brother its the identity this season...all losses were winnable games and our offense specifically Dak and the passing game let this team down..sad im hoping the FO and SJ/JJ is discussing this behind the scenes..can or should they make trade for a better WR/TE and /OR start getting white/Rush some quality snaps? Bring in Kapernick put some pressure on Dak? id say Swaim is getting better Jarwin might come along some time with Rico as a special play type guy, TE should be ok for now..

You really went defense on that? ST hasn't done squat all year. I'd go with ST in the return game. Maher is the only bright spot.
the ST hasn't done much good or bad, but yes Maher has been very good. The coaches, well chronicled and a long standing problem. The offense, many obvious problems, written about to death. The defense is becoming a problem. The defense gave up 500yds including a 50yd pass in OT to set up their game winner, good defenses don't give up 500yds. If Houston would have had a better balanced offense, it would have been ugly. Last game Stafford had a 131 QB rating, threw for 80% and we would have lost the game despite Zeke having a 200+ yd day. We couldn't generate pressure on Stafford and was able to pick apart our secondary, especially in the 2nd half. The Lions scored too fast left time on the clock, thanks to letting them have a pair of 40yd plays that drive. The Lions last two drives were 3.5 minutes each. The Seahawks have one of the worst OL in the league and was missing two OL starters and their #1WR and TE, and he still posted a 109 QB rating because we couldn't get pressure after they had surrendered 12 sacks in their 1st two games, gave up big plays and let them establish a run game they hadn't had success in doing before. People are excited on the few spectacular plays and rightfully so, but what about all those other plays they are giving up along the way and there have been many. It's a worrying trend, it's not a couple lucky plays, teams are stringing more and more big plays against the defense.

this team is pretty much what I thought it would be before the season started and I think after watching them play five games now its going to get much worse the qb play and coaching is simply bad and the this cowboys offense is AWFUL to watch its just a bad team with bad coaches that is needful of a housecleaning

Offensive line was okay last night. Dak must get better at pre-snap reads, ball placement, getting through reads during the play, pocket presence, and mechanics.

The problem is that the offensive line set a standard that cannot be consistently replicated. No QB gets to just stand back and survey the field for 5-6 seconds routinely. Success as a QB in the current league means consistently hitting guys in stride when the opportunity presents itself. Whether on the run or from the pocket.

Garrett has only been in control of the offense since 2007

give the genius some time.
