That was a good football team we faced tonight...

To step aside from Cowboys talk for a moment, last year I picked the Bears to be my surprise team, this year is going to be the Vikings. If the Commanders think they have an easy victory Week 1, they better think again. They don't have a lot of sexy names at the skill positions so they aren't going to get a lot of hype. All they do is dominate you on both sides of the ball. Birk, Hutchinson, and McKinnie is probably the best offensive line side in football now, and as far as a DT tandem goes I'll take the Williams Bros. over Stroud and Henderson. Its only due to a horrible head coach that they haven't lived up to their talent level the past couple of years, especially on defense.

100% agree.

It's Dave Campo all over again. They just got stuck with a smart, disciplined coach who won't let the team run wild. Gonna be night and day now that their former doofus of a coach is gone.

They have talent, Brad Johnson continues to be one of the most underrated vets in the league, and they have some darn good lines to win the trench warfare, and that's all ya need.

I agree.... Minny will struggle a bit because of the new system but they will NOT be a pushover!

I have been very suprised with the Vikings thus far ( I have seen all of their preseason games.) No big names, no flashy players, just a solid football team on both sides of the ball. Brad Johnson has impressed me so much the first 3 games that I made him my backup in FF. :D

I agree that they are under the radar so far. IMO, they are a better team with Johnson than with Culpepper, though the average fan would view that as a downgrade.

I agree. Kevin Williams is probably the best DT in football and Brad Johnson is amazingly smart and efficient.

No doubt in my mind they wax the Skins in week 1.

Well one thing for sure they probably have the best O in the NFCN. I would pick them to challenge for the division.

There D is quick and can bring the pressure. The CB are going to be real good. Esp. Griffen

The vikes are strong along both lines... to my mind that makes them a contender right there... regardless of skill positions. I agree IR.

Yep.

JJT mentioned in an article about 2 years ago that it was rumored that Bill Parcells wanted to draft this guy.

What the future holds: Stewart is playing for San Francisco. Parcells wanted to draft a big, run-stopping defensive tackle two years ago, but the Cowboys didn't want to draft Oklahoma State's Kevin Williams with the fifth pick. Dallas has two first-round picks in the 2005 draft, and you better believe one of them is going to a player who can fill this gaping hole on the roster.

I disagree with you on taking Williams and Williams before Stroud and Henderson, however I agree with the rest. They are above average to great on both lines and all Brad Johnson ever does is win while whoever his current coach is constantly tries to replace him. Story of his life. Also I was pretty impressed by C. Taylor tonight, which caught me a little bit by suprise.

As much trouble as the Skins are having scoring points and as good as the Vikings's defense looks, is it possible to have negative points scored???

I said during the first half that the Skins will be lucky to come within 21 pts of these guys and I still think that.

It's really funny to read Extreme Skins and see how sure they are they are going to stomp the Vikings (unless that 98% of the playbook is very, very good). I am pretty sure they have got a pretty big surprise coming their way after watching tonite!

It won't be any easier for us game 1 if we don't get it corrected against Jax. Stroud and Henderson are widely considered the best interior twosome in the league.
