I fully expected that kind of game from Dallas. They play down to their opponents and when the Titans held out all their injured players I figured the Cowboys would play poorly.
But what concerns me now the most are the offensive and defensive lines. The OL is a completely new configuration and I am not sure if Jason Peters can play an entire game. And if he does, I don't know how effective he will be late in the game. I am also concerned about Tyron Smith and his run blocking. It is no coincidence that the running game had dropped off a cliff since Steele got injured and Tyron replace him. This offense needs a strong running game.
On the defensive side I am concerned about the pass rush still. They got two sacks last night, but against the backup OL of the Titans and their 3rd string QB who just joined the team 8 days before the game. Their QB has been on 5 teams in 6 years or something like that.
I do think the defense will improve when/if Hankins and LVE return.
But Brown and Lewis are not returning and with no pass rush and Wright playing 12 yards off the receiver, then dropping back when the ball is snapped I can see a good offense really carving up the Cowboys defense.
I keep hearing how opponents are getting the ball out quickly. I agree, that is part of what is happening. But then why aren't the Cowboys DBs playing up tighter and getting on the receivers quickly rather than laying off and giving up easy first downs. The Titans had 17 first downs, 11 came on passes. They were 7-16 on third downs. Again, that we a second string offense with a 3rd string QB. If not for some dropped passes the Cowboys defense would have looked much much worse.
