The 10 Best Steakhouses in the Entire Country

Mouthwatering doesn't begin to do them justice

These days, there are a million options for dining out in America--do you want sushi or Korean barbecue? Wood fired pizzas or farm-to-table organic? But just a few generations ago, there was only one kind of restaurant that mattered: the steakhouse. And whether you’re eating filet mignon with an ice-cold martini in the big city or washing your rib eye down with draft beer in a Wild West saloon (cowboy boots mandatory), the American steakhouse is still an absolute classic. Here are our ten favorites.

BERN'S; TAMPA, FLORIDA
PAPPAS BROTHERS; DALLAS, TEXAS
PETER LUGER; BROOKLYN, NEW YORK
BAVETTE'S BAR AND BOEUF; CHICAGO
KEEN'S; NEW YORK, NEW YORK
CARNEVINO; LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
CUT; LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
ARCHIE'S WAESIDE; LE MARS, IOWA
ST. ELMO; INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA
CATTLEMEN'S STEAKHOUSE; OKLAHOMA CITY

They could have a Top 100 list for Top 10 Steakhouse lists:laugh:

Seems to be a new one every month or by what magazine you're reading.

Personally, I think
Pappa's is really good but just in Dallas (and jmo) I think they are behind Bob's, Al Biernat's, Nick & Sams, and maybe the newer one...Knife.
III Forks, Morton's, Chamberlain's, The Palm, and many others are awfully good too.

This is a truly great city to find a great steak.

Not your typical place that costs a car payment to eat at. I have fond memories as a kid here and the steaks are great. I hear it hasn't changed a bit(food quality wise).

Also, I miss The Old San Francisco Steakhouse that was in Houston. They had girls swinging on swings across the restaurant with the best bread/cheese on the table :)

Ruth Chris, Pappas, etc are good but not worth the price really. Only on a rare occasion we dine at one of those.

Yep, had one in Dallas as well...Along with a Trail Dust, where if you wear a tie they cut it off and pin it to the wall. and they had a slide for the kids who'd use burlap sacks to slide down with....

Only been to 2 of those.

None of them came close to Texas De Brazil. Texas De Brazil is my #1 all time restaurant.
Amazing Salad bar and all you can eat high end meat. Including Filet Mignon and Flank Steak. Yes please.

Cattlemen down in the Ft.Worth Stockyards is great.
But the steaks that come off my grill put them all to shame.

I eat at Bern's everytime I'm in Tampa. The only time I ever tried Chateaubriand; it's incredible and their wine cellar contains over 7,000 bottles.

I've been to Texas De Brazil a few times. It's really gone downhill, at least the one on Cedar Springs in Dallas has. I'm interested to hear this, as well.
