Northern and Central California continue to dominate the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s latest auto-theft Hot Spots report.

The NICB measured vehicle theft rates per capita for 380 metropolitan areas based on reported 2014 vehicle thefts. California cities landed in seven of the 10 worst spots. (See the list.)

Your car was safest, by the way, in State College, Pennsylvania. Here are the 10 hottest spots for car thefts:

NO. 10: SAN JOSE-SUNNYVALE-SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA
NO. 9: FRESNO, CALIFORNIA
NO. 8: SEATTLE-TACOMA-BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON
NO. 7: VALLEJO-FAIRFIELD, CALIFORNIA
NO. 6: SPOKANE-SPOKANE VALLEY, WASHINGTON
NO. 5: MODESTO, CALIFORNIA
NO. 4: ODESSA, TEXAS
NO. 3: STOCKTON-LODI, CALIFORNIA
NO. 2: BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA

All far west coast except Odessa.
Would sanctuary status of those cities be related to this

Remind me not to move to California.

Living up here in Seattle, one thing that's always kinda been a little confusing to me is that we have a pretty high property crime rate but a low violent crime rate (compared to other major cities). I guess that's better than the reverse, but I've always wondered about it. This sorta backs up the property crime thing.
