I have been and remain skeptical but optomistic of Romo. I was in the camp that didn't know if Romo was the answer,, but knew Bledsoe wasn't, so I wanted Romo in. I am still in my evaluation period of Romo and I have not formed a concrete feeling about him yet.. but he is winning me over, week by week.

Romo has been impressive over his 3 starts. But there are 2 throws that have really showed me alot about the kid. The first one, was against Washington, the 26 yard strike to Witten as time was running down, to set up the game winning FG that got blocked. That was a perfect throw, in a very High pressure, very hostile environment. That type of poise and concentration can not be coached.

The other throw was the 51 yd TD pass to TO against ARZ. What was impressive about it, was not the arm strength, he underthrew it a tad, but his mechanics on the throw. That play happened because of a pre snap read. When he was dropping back, he never looked to his left.. which held the S in the middle,, his back foot hit on step 5, the wheeled and throw a stike to TO on the sideline. The fact that he looked off the safety and never really even looked at TO before the ball came out, shows his confidence level in both his ability and that of TO.

Those are the throws that have impressed me the most.

What about you guys?

Actually you can throw in several clutch throws on 3rd and long. This guy is like magic sometimes on 3rd down, he has ice water in his veins. I've never been so comfortable on 3rd downs as I am with Romo.

So now BP can be aggressive on 2nd down, calling trick plays and what not, because if we are down to 3rd and long, chances are Romo can nail it.

We've been bitten so much re QB performnces since Aikman left that my skepticism level is high. I have been impressed with Romo's play (saw Carolina game on TV here in Tampa area) but other games not available.

Thankfully the Cowboys-Colts game will be broadcast here (whole country except 2 small areas - wonder what they did wrong) will get same chance. I very optimistic about Romo's performance but he has not yet played a team of the caliber of the Colts--admittedly their defense isn't same caliber as offense.

Anyway I believe our offense will get more then their share of points but just very concerned about our defense. It's ironic how we a few weeks ago were besides ourselves with concern over our OL (and still remains problem area particularly Flo today) but now our concern has shifted to how well our defense can play. Pass rush wasn't good before Ellis went down; I don't expect it to get any better w/Singleton in there but don't know what Carpenter or even Glymp/Hatcher can do either. In fact didn't our stats from Cards game show we only pressured their QB about 1/3 of the time. Unless we do something dramatically different, Manning will kill us which means Romo will have to match him while still using our running game to limit Manning's field presence.

I think a lot of points will go on the board but gotta think our defense even with its faults is better then the Colts. So if we lucky, Cowboys will narrowly win a pretty good high scoring game.

One of my favorite Romo throws was the one early in the Arizona game, where he was being tackled, and was on the way down, when he was still able to whip the ball out for the first down. I rewatched that on tivo several times.

My favorite throw was the 70+ yard TD pass that TO dropped. It traveled about 50 yards in the air and had perfect arc and perfect placement. Even though TO dropped it, that play will keep defenses honest from here on out.

In his three starts, there has been a play a game where he has done something dazzling to escape pressure and step up in the pocket. He also has used the pump very effectively.

I am very hard to impress and he has amazed me at least once in every start.

So there wasn't a time after the game in which you said in a strong British accent:

"That was one of the most absolutely horrid performances I have ever witnessed in all my years in the business. Just absolutely dreadful."

;)

I think his best throw by far was the TD to Crayton last week. That ball was thrown absolutely PERFECTlY. It was unbelievable.

I looked at that drop again... dont know why... LOL

If TO had tried to catch it with his hands instead of trying to pull it to his body right away it would have a GREAT play.... I saw Javon Walker(I think?) a few weeks ago catching balls with this contraption on his hands that only allowed you to catch the ball with your fingertips... great idea... someone should get TO one :D

The things that impress me about Romo somtimes don't show up in the stat area. One play that impressed me was when he fumbled, recovered it then got the ball out for an incompletion. Vs Washington and Carolina, there would have been sacks with a QB like Bledsoe in the game. Romo has intagibles, "it" or "Moxie", whatever those are, he has them. For a kid comming out of a small college program un drafted, you can't get any better.

It's about time to start giving this front office the credit they deserve for finding a diamond in the ruff like Tony ROmo, after suffering thru the three baseball players, Dallas found a QB, best one on the team since Aikman.

The best was the one where he sensed the pressure hopped to his left, set his feet and POP threw a strike to Witten for a first down.

He's had 2-5 plays a game that would have been a disaster with Bledsoe at QB, and other than the Giants game the only boneheaded throw he's made was the fake spike against AZ.

His best play by far was the snap over his head that he picked up, rolled out, and threw for 30+ yards down the field after motioning for the receiver to go deep. It was in pre-season, but it was against a 1st team defense.

Will Houston get this game? Those confounded Texans always usurp the airways, I'll give them this, there is no temptation to rush home from church or let one's mind drift to thoughts of football during a sermon in the Bayou City.

Texans play the early game. We're playing in the afternoon.
