They managed to address all three levels of the defense in one off-season. Truly incredible stuff.
The early splurge in Free Agency on linebackers all makes sense now. 4-3 linebackers are cheaper to come by than pass rushers and cover guys. They solidified this group early so that they could spend premium picks on positions that make the big bucks. I thought this was the deepest group on the roster, but I'm not so sure about that after the draft.
Secondary is solidified with Byron Jones. 3rd safety has been a weakness for years, and now Byron Jones offers that versatility in case Wilcox or Church gets hurt. And we go six deep at CB now with Scandrick, Carr, Jones, Claiborne, Patmon, and White.
Last but not least, the pass rush. We added a top 5 DE, and a top 10 talent at DE in the draft in a single off-season.
Are you kidding me?
