All NFL players—from running backs and wide receivers to long snappers and kickers—are subjected to criticism at one time or another. But no one, and we do mean no one, faces the amount of criticism that quarterbacks face on a week-in, week-out basis. Even when QBs are playing well and winning games, they're still forced to deal with critics who think they should be playing better and winning games more decisively. It comes with the territory when you line up under center for an NFL team.

Some quarterbacks get it worse than others, though. For example,Donovan McNabb—who turns 38 today—once said, "Nobody has been criticized as much as I have," during a 2012 appearance onESPN First Take. And while we don't necessarily agree with his assessment of him being the most criticized QB ever, he certainly faced his fair share of criticism during his days with the Eagles—from getting booed by Philadelphia fans during the 1998 NFL Draft to having his heart questioned following Philly's loss to the Patriotsin Super Bowl XXXIX.

So to help "celebrate" McNabb's born day, we put together a list ofThe 25 Most Criticized Quarterbacks in NFL History. Playing QB in the NFL clearly isn't always all that it's cracked up to be.

They nailed it. If you're wanting to win your fantasy league, he's your guy. But until he starts showing up in big games, he'll just go down as a stats guy, nothing more.

The funny thing is that, based on his stats alone, Romo deserves the "elite" title more than a lot of other QBs in the league. But his inability to win when it counts, coupled with the fact that he plays for the Cowboys, has been his undoing. And until he's able to win a Super Bowl, he's going to continue to be the NFL's version of the 2010 LeBron James.

the problem I have with some of these lists that are put together is this: A lot of times, they are done by younger guys and because of that, too many make the list from recent years. IMO, that appears to be the case with this list too.

A few guys that come to mind that were heavily criticized:
How about Danny White? And I'm not knocking him, just saying people ripped him bad.
Doug Williams was destroyed for years.
And Terry Bradshaw may have been criticized more than most. Until he won a Super Bowl. And by the time he won his 4th, then he was king. But he was absolutely destroyed for not being able to throw, running too much, and that he wasn't that smart. And when he was benched, the criticism was piled on.

LOL look who scurried out. Yeah that whole thing had nothing to do with the fact he's the quarterback of the most hated team in America.

By the way, was Sunday night a big game? Are the Eagles a big game? Just let us know before you disappear for another month.

Tony probably is the most criticized QB. Some of the criticism may be deserved but much of it is not. He sometimes has tried to carry the team too much but the reality is due to really sub par coaching we would of had one of the worst teams the last few years if not for Romo carrying the team. Without Romo this team would have been 3 - 13 or worse instead of 8 - 8 the last three years.

If they counted the times I alone cussed Steve Pelluer, he'd be at the top of that list.

I was furious at Pelluer for not being the next Roger Staubach. He played that game in '85 against the Giants like he was. He was a third-stringer who won against all odds and got us the NFC East Title. Then it was all downhill from there. In '86 we started 6 and 2 with White until he got hurt then we went 1 and 7 with Pelluer to finish 7 and 9. Ouch.

Pelluer wasn't the next Roger Staubach.

How can that list NOT have Rex Grossman on there when he was playing for Chicago?

Everyday ESPN radio was calling for the guys head.......and Chicago couldn't make it to the Super Bowl with him

Now days I don't even argue about Romo with anybody. I just automatically assume they don't know anything about football and just regurgitate the garbage they heard on espn when they start bashing Romo. And they really don't know anything about the sport. The dude is elite. Don't believe me? How'd Brandon Weeden do?

I think somebody wanted to make a point of showing Romo as the most criticized and then just made up a random list of other QBs.
