There's some serious claimed times out there.

fyi...Just add about .03-.06 to almost all of those times and that probably gets your combine time.
So 4.3 may be 4.33 --4.36 or so

In any case, there are a few blazers. I hear rumblings that CJ's 4.24 time may be in jeapardy.

Ill give Tindal a call!

here is some more info on him for u;
With our 7th rounder we take Kelton Tindal, Newberry-
271. Kelton Tindal
School: Newberry
Position: WR
Class: 2010 Big Board
Year: Senior
Hometown: Sumter, SC
Date of Birth: 10.07.87
Height: 6021
Weight: 189
40 T: 4.23
Projection: 6th Round

Are you looking for the fastest man at the NFL Scouting Combine? Tindal could be the one as he reportedly ran in the 4.2-4.3 range, with clocks as low as 4.22, as his junior pro day while measuring in at 6’2, 189 pounds. He caught 39 passes for 745 yards and 6 touchdowns while rushing for two touchdowns as well. He needs to bulk up and is considered a pure linear threat at this point but has potential. Keep tabs on this name. This is one of my pet cats.

I heard that Indys surface was one of the fastest in the NFl and makes your speed faster. So, how about doing the opposite DFWJC, like say a 4.3, subtract .3 off of the times listed;
a 4.3 could be a 4.27

I had a friend who was a great dish washer but that did not mean he could cook. 40 times have almost as much to do with playing football

lol...I hear you, but it does not work that way.

It is a fast surface, but my point was that the times that are floated are almost NEVER correct. Year after year you hear of blazing times, but when they get to the combines the time is almost (95+% of the time) slower. Even the great Chris Johnson had floated times of 4.2, but nobody believed it. Turns out they were close though.

Go back and look at the history and you'll see that the electronic times at the combine tend to be great, but still slower than those "fastest recorded times" floated before the combine.

There can always be surprises though...so it should be fun to see who that is.

More 40 time madness.

We have two of the fastest players in many, many years coming out this year in Holliday and Ford. And this unknown Tindal guy is faster than both of them?

Right.

Pretty telling when half of the 40 are slotted as Undrafted (16) or 7th (4) rounders. Speed is great, but football skills are better.

Right.

Yes he is, in a bowl game he played, he was double covered, but still beat both the cb and safety, with one and half steps on both defenders. On top of that the ball was thrown over the wrong shoulder, so he had to reach to get the ball and adjust to the football in the air with a big completion going up in the air for the football.

He has talent just needs it developed.

Just think about wr sidney rice, who seemed to be a bust till Favre got to Minny and helped develop Rice, now rice is a pretty good wr. And Tindal has better speed than Rice.

1. WR/KR-KELTON TINDAL (NEWBERRY D-II 6-2/190)
Fastest Reported 40-Time: 4.24
Projected Draft Position: Undrafted
Versus Sidney Rice
2. WR5 - Sidney Rice, South Carolina Official Bio
Height: 6-3
Weight: 200
40 yard dash: 4.53
Grade: 91

So, just think of the potential. Also look at it this way, remember when we drafted randall williams with deep speed etc. But at college randall hadly did anything, but tindal has caught footballs and tds unlike randall williams.

Its true that speed matters but if all you can do is run and not play and produce on the football field then your speed doesnt matter. Tindal has produced on the football field and showed that in the ball game.

now does he need refining in route running, blocking etc, yes, thats why you have good coaches coaching him up with a good qb helping him.

If he can catch a fly route call him up as a UDFA or take him in the 7th round and use him as a weapon when you need some explosiveness.

Tindal is now my new pet-cat in this draft, thanks CowboyJoe for your 5millionth great post!

Yet he didn't score on the play. ;)

That game was all about Holliday anyway, who caught a 65 yarder for a TD, rushed for another score but more importantly, consistently changed field positions with his kickoff and punt returns. The return ability will get him drafted, the rushing and receiving would only be bonus.

Jacoby Ford and Tindal ended up with similar stats. However Ford got better each season facing stiffer competition while Tindal had a good Junior year but regressed his Senior season.

There are reasons both Holliday and Ford likely get drafted while Tindal does not.

i have heard the opposite that tindal can go anywhere from the 6th to 7th round. Granted, Holliday stole the show, but my point is, if we cant get jacoby ford or holliday etc, then if tindal is there, give him a look, dont let him get away.

If its one thing we learned with Randall Williams is that speed is NOT everything and is not even the MOST IMPORTANT thing.

thats my point i am trying to make, if you have the speed and have made plays, then you should look at the player, thats where our scouts come in

i dont remember who the scout was, but best i remember was one that covered colston a few years back, and he didnt do his work, and parcells gave him grief about it, missing out on the player

i trust and believe in our scouts now, but you still leave no stone unturned, like hostile told me once, he sent info on folk to the cowboys, and they drafted him
its true tindal regressed his senior year, but all you have to do is go look at his junior year, he did make playes

what you have to do is find out why he regressed, was it a new qb that wasnt in sync with him, or whatever

i feel like this, and this is my point like stephen jones said last year before the draft, they wanted to have some extra picks so in the lower rounds they could take players that they felt might be undrafted, but they could draft them and not contend with other nfl teams in undrafted free agency

thats all im saying if they have their eye on him, dont let him get away

if they say this player cant cut it, fine, move on, but dont leave a stone unturned why?

miles austin, and tony romo are 2 of our top players now that went undrafted

you might not get that chance to sign that player so if you can draft him in the lower rounds;

So then this is the official Raiders draft board, I take it?
Heyward-Bey was a steal with the 7th pick. Just because 16 other rookie WRs did better than him last year, doesn't mean Al Davis does not know the value of speed when he sees it!
:laugh2:
