I heard Sal Palotonio discussing the QB's performance in the 4th quarter on Colin Cowherd's show. He was critical of McNabb. He talked about how Romo didn't do much during most of the game, but threw a beautiful pass when it mattered. It got me thinking. about the QBs in the NFC East. These are the 4th quarter stats for the QBs in the NFC East this season. It does not include Romo's overtime against K.C.

Tony Romo
27 completions
51 attempts
531 yards
3 TDs
0 INTs
109.2 QB rating

Jason Campbell
42 completions
63 attempts
425 yards
4 TDs
1 INTs
100.3 QB rating

Eli Manning
46 completions
81 attempts
576 yards
4 TDs
1 INTs
90.4 QB rating

Donovan McNabb
16 completions
31 attempts
159 yards
0 TDs
0 INTs
66.5 QB rating

I feel confident in Romo both heading into halftime and late 4th qrt of being able to move the team and scoring or putting us in FG range.

The fact that Campbell is #2 on this list kind of ruins any credibility that stat had. It's a shame, too, because that's some nice work.

Well Campbell being in that list leads me to believe that his stats are increased due to the Deadskins being behind so the defense is basically coasting and giving Campbell what they want. If the Deadskins had a more solid record that would lead me to believe that campbell plays great in the 4th and gives this team its best chance to win.

I wouldn't say it that they're coasting and totally giving him everything. I do think Campbell plays better later in the game. He always looks jumpy early in games to me.

I agree somewhat. I don't think Campbell is a terrible quarterback. Just a quarterback put in a terrible situation. But you've seen it. You've seen how we've dominated games in the 4th and then all of a sudden a qb has no pressure on him and the defense is basically playing a bend but don't break defense. The latest example being the Seahawks game. Cowboys dominated him all game and he somehow ends up with a pretty decent statline. At that point in the game you have reserves playing and the starters are out there trying not to get hurt. If Campbell had more 4th quarter victories this stat would look legit. And in Romo's case it is IMO. He's been GREAT in the 4th quarter. But Campbell being that good in the 4th stat-wise anyway sort of takes the credibility away.

say what you want about any of this, the fact is that Romo is good in the fourth and McNabb is awful

I'm sure Don might point to comparisons like December performance.... you look at December and Don looks like a better QB than Tony. I doubt I'd want McNabb over Romo but it suggests that you can often find something to support most arguments if you look to enough comparisons.

Eli Manning is the worst QB in the NFL, so that he is last place gives me no surprise.

Eli Manning is not elite, but he is far from the worst.

Just think 1 team accomplishment of getting a SB ring and Romo based on numbers is right at the top. Currently he already ranks up there in many areas with the top QB but has no ring.
