whatelse could they have done. Thrown a 60 yard hail mary? Like thats not even more of a give up. I dont know what you hope to accomplish with this post, but I dont think that was a give up play. I think thats the only thing they could have done.

I keep waiting for Detmer to pull the ball up and make a throw. Glad Parcells called a timeout before the attempt just to make sure the players were looking for it.

Heck, no. They probably read this board and know that nobody misses field goals against Dallas.

A Hail Mary or a 60 yard FG attempt. Neither has a high percentage of being effective. I could see either as being a give up play.

I was surprised that Dallas didn't have anyone lined up deep. Not to return it like Vasher and the Bears, but just to make sure there wasn't a fake.

They had as good a chance of completing a hail mary as they did a fg.

So when we are in that situation where we need a long FG and we try are we giving up? I dont think so. I think its an opportunity to score points, if you make it, you score. If not you lose. On a Hail Mary, you have a better chance of getting a Pass Interference penalty then completing it for the TD. You chances are score, incomplete, catch but no td, Int, or sack. 2 out of 5 vs 1 out of 2 chances to score. The odds say kick the FG.

Coming off a hamstring injury, I found it odd to try such a long FG. I would have taken a shot with a Hail Mary...maybe hope for a penalty.
