"Six real Indians."
I am waiting for the day when some white guys are offended by the term cowboy. It can happen.
You think that would get 90% approval from African Americans, or about 85% of the national approval?
So are you also offended by the NAACP? Or the United Negro College fund?
I assume you've travelled to reservations like the Commanders have as far back as Bobby Bethard.
Should the Navajo reservation in Red Mesa Az. change their school name from "Commanders?"
Regardless of opinions on the matter, the name will be changed. It is inevitable.
Last summer, my family and I drove right past this very school, beautiful school at that. It had the same name, font, design and logo. Before seeing this first hand, I was all for changing the name, not because it is considered offensive, but because it would be another headache for a hated rival. After seeing this, keep the name. A lot of action is being sought to silence a small percentage. Here is the front of the school.
Don't be silly. Cowboy is a job. Commander isn't.
You may be offended by the term, but it seems like most Native Americans are not.
I never left that club. I eat chicken every time we play the Commanders.Washington Commanders. Now enriched with more real Injuns.
I'm in the "leave the name alone" camp, but Marshall was a racist SOB. Cowboys Chicken Club. Time to bring it back?
