Dez Bryant has earned every bit of praise and every bit of criticism he will ever get. He is leaching off the greatness that is Pearson and Irvin. Guys who helped build the team into the monster that it is today. True champions. Dez should be sent to the corner to think about what he has done.

How the heck can you numbnuts say Dez didn't work on his route running? Then why don't you geniuses tell me what training camp is for? You really think they let Dez just sit back and play on his Gameboy in camp?

I tell you, fans find the stupidest reasons to hate a player.

Because his routes were always rounded off, making it easy for a decent DB to jump the route. So either he wasn't working on it, or he's not very bright.

A good throw can beat tight coverage. Troy Aikman said that. Romo to Dez didn't need any work. The connection between those two was excellent. Dez route running became a thing when the Dak friendly offense was established. That's something that people often forget. So if you look at the Dak friendly offense... it was china routes, dig routes, stick routes, quick outs, and comebacks. All short routes that CB's can sit on. The only person that could get open, running those routes, on a regular basis was Beasley. But people look at Dez like he could have worked harder. When it was the Dak friendly offense that tore things apart.

But my earlier post was about the coaches, basically. If Dez couldn't run routes then what the hell were the coaches doing? What were they doing in camp? It's not like they weren't trying, it's just that those shorter routes are timing routes. The QB and the WR have to work on those to get their timing right.

You can talk about Irvin and his passion all day long. But don't forget about Pearson. His blood is 100% Cowboy blue. Always will be. When the Cowboys finally win another SB, he will be just as proud as anyone.

Major props to Chipotle for getting these guys together. Watching that made the hair on my arm stand straight up.

WE ARE THE 88 CLUB!

Darn straight.

Shame Jerry did not give Dez a chance to do one more season and retire a DC. He still has enough in the tank to give some great plays out there but maybe as WR3.

People wanted him to be something he wasn’t. If you could develop into a great route runner then anyone could be a receiver….but anyone can’t…

Yeah it reminds me of watching Emmitt tighten up after about 20 yards on any long run and always wanting him to work with a sprint coach to fix his running form so he could turn more of those into house calls. For the first 25 yards or so Emmitt was as fast as anyone who ever played the game.. but out in the open his stride and arm action were terrible. I always told myself I could have gotten him another 2000 yards and a couple dozen more TDs if I could have worked with him every offseason ... But you know what happened? Emmitt rushed for 18000 yards and 160 TDs without doing any of that. His game never relied much on speed and he did just fine. Dez's game never relied much on speed or precise route running.. and he too did just fine. It was not his route running that escorted him out of the league. It was injuries. Especially that achilles tear. If he hadn't torn that thing he might still be playing.. But it's very rare that an explosive athlete ever completely regains his explosiveness following that injury. VERY few have.

I appreciate the whole 88 club thing, but CeeDee still has to prove his worth.
