The Aikman Efficiency Ratings

The Bengals, who spent the week on a bye, remain atop the Aikman Combined Ratings through Week 4. Cincinnati also took over the top spot in Aikman Defense.

The big change is behind them, as teams 2 through 5 in the Week 3 rankings (Commanders, Bears, Patriots and Falcons) all lost. So they have been replaced by four clubs who were Week 4 winners – Ravens, Cowboys, Colts and 49ers.

It should be noted that the top three teams have put a bit of distance to the rest of the field in the Aikman Combined, with the Cowboys holding a 4.9-point margin over the Colts. But if you go a similar distance below Dallas, you will find nine teams closely bunched, including the other undefeated team, Arizona, and last year’s two Super Bowl teams, Denver and Seattle.

... and I understand that Marinelli think this is a more accurate assessment of a defense instead of the way the NFL rates them. Actually Marinelli basically gushes over Aikmans "cyphering".

Every game from here on out is a must win. This season has the potential of breaking the cycle of mediocrity. But the team has to find cohesiveness amongst the players and respond when the other team slaps them in the face.
