The Alshon Jeffery Conundrum

I strongly believe that Alshon Jeffery could be the missing piece of this offense, that he could take tremendous pressure off of the running game, off of Tony Romo, and off of Dez Bryant. I can't imagine anyone stopping this offense with Alshon Jeffery as a part of it. I easily think we would be the best offense in the league.

I think it would open things up for Beasley and even Terrance Williams in 3rd/4th receiver roles.

The problem though is that in all of this I think I've understated his market value. I thought receiver salaries were going to peak, especially after Dez Bryant's season last year. It's not just about his health, but Demaryius Thomas also didn't have the greatest season last year.

With the retirement of Calvin Johnson, I think the suitors for Alshon Jeffery (assuming that he isn't franchised) will be too many... You'll have Chicago, Carolina, Detroit, and probably New England scrambling for him. They'll all look to pay him top dollar.

There is no way he should make as much or more than T.Y. Hilton and that is 13 million per year. I'd actually be a lot more comfortable paying him around 11 million per year, but my guess is someone out there will give him the 13.5 to 14 million a year that other top receivers are getting and honestly that is too much for a WR2 who has some injury concerns...

Percy Harvin for a very cheap, per game salary might be worth looking into, but most likely this guy is done.

Any real attempt to bring in a quality receiver pretty much means Jeffery or bust. Drafting a player, simply isn't going to get it done in the time frame we have to win a super bowl.

I'm not sure Dez would be okay with Jeffery on board. I see those two clashing. That would be very bad for team chemistry.

Looking at their roster, he is pretty much guaranteed to be franchised. He's worth it and there is nobody else other than Forte where it makes any sense but forte is on the wrong side of 30 while Jeffrey is coming into his prime. I like the idea just think its a pipe dream.

Why does the offense need a pro bowler at every position in order for it to function?

There are a number of positions that would be wiser to invest in over the #2 WR. I agree that we need an upgrade, but not at the cost of what Jeffrey will command.

Unless they don't want Escobar in the passing game, the Cowboys need a WR that will move Williams into the slot. I don't think Williams is that great of an outside WR, but he is better than most slot corners in the league.

I'd rather have a fast WR than Jeffrey. We are still a run oriented offense. Get somebody that can really stretch the field. I like Bryce Butler, but I would prefer even faster. Stretch the field and make the defense have to be leery of the deep threat.

...........cause they are already "coached up"

Most of the missing pieces are on defense. Offensively we need a better starting RB and we need to keep Romo healthy. We can win with the WRs we have provided Dez returns to form.

We have another bad season it wont be Garretts offense or team for that matter

Another reason you don't overspend now.
Give whomever comes in the cap cash to make changes.
You don't tie up the cap for 5 years and hire a guy and expect him to succeed.

Cheaper and younger options is to draft Treadwell at #4. Save your money and salivate as he does a number on DB's.
