There are 8 QBs so far who have yet to throw an interception.
There are only 3 QBs in that group who have played all three games so far:
  • Carson Wentz (102 attempts)
  • Dak Prescott (99 attempts)
  • Philip Rivers (99 attempts)

The other 5 guys that have no picks have all only played 1 or 2 games.

In honor of Dak having gone 3 full games so far without an interception, I'd like to list some of the ways an interception can occur.
It's a reminder of just how many thngs need to go right...and a well earned tip of the cap to these guys.

The Anatomy of an Interception--ways things can go wrong

  1. QB_Good throw but Poor decision to throw it (timing or coverage)
  2. WR_Poor route, good throw.
  3. QB_Poor throw, good route
  4. WR_Poor fight...Good route and throw, but did not fight for the ball
  5. WR_Poor catch...Good route and throw, ball through hands or tipped...either one for a pick
  6. DB_Good throw, Good route, even better defensive play by DB (tip/pick or pick)
  7. DE_Good throw, Good route, even better defensive play by DE (tip/pick or pick)
  8. etc

If you can think of any that I missed, feel free to add them.
Bottom line is a lot has to go right.
So far, so good

Part of the point is that interceptions aren't anywhere close to always being on the QB.
For that matter, the opposite can be true. Not having one could be for many of the same reasons, in reverse.
Poor throw not picked.
Poor route not picked.
Tipped ball not picked.
Possible pick not caught by DB.
Etc.

Its just a nice accomplishment not have one through nearly 100 attempts.
Nothing more, nothing less.
