I just moved to the metroplex from California last month...........

How in the world did Babe Laufenburg become the media king of Dallas Cowboys football?

huh? all kinds of random players end up as local sports broadcasters.

pretty sure all guys that can go national do, he is stuck here and carved out a little niche.

Because he is fantastic.

He has incredible insight into this team and the league. Of all the people I have ever listened to he understands offense and the game the best.

His sports segments on cbs 11 are entertaining and informative. His analysis in the boothe is spot on.

Playing with and for great coaches and players his whole career has paid off.

the same way Rick Suttcliff became the king of San Diego Padres media back in the day. direct ties to the team, positive attitude, a dash of homerism, and arse licking.

Yep. as bad a QB as he was he's just that good at analyzing the Cowboys.

He does know what he's talking about, but his ego is so out of control. I love how he makes comments he thinks are so insightful and unique to him, and then pats himself on the back...

"It's 2nd and 12, watch for a draw play here... See, Brad? What did I tell you! Ha ha heh ha..."

Ditto! Plus, he's a genuinely nice guy.

My late wife and I have known Babe socially since 89, and he's never failed to acknowledge me by name whenever we've run into each other.

Brad Sham is the media king of the Dallas Cowboys paddna, welcome to the Lone Star State... :)

I met Babe last year and he is everything advertised. Very, very smart and insightful. He's a genuinely good guy who loves the game and the fact that he played pro ball at all puts him head and shoulders above many of the other "experts."

By thinking and doing the opposite of Nors.

I think he's pretty good, too. He ought to know football and can see for himself how Garrett works. So can the rest of the league but there's too much to cover and Garrett does a good job of switching up on defenses. He's hard to predict IMO.

I miss Babe since moving out of the DFW area.

Babe may have been the very first guy on the Romo bandwagon back when Bledsoe was the starter.

I should add that Babe was the only guy I know of in the media who went through the 1st half of Bledsoe's last start against the Giants and showed all of the mistakes he made that led to his being replaced by Romo.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy. I dont have anything against him. I have my tivo set to record everything about the cowboys and he is on every show. I have not seen the keen insight people are talking about yet. He seems like just another talking head to me so far.

When I think of all the personalities the Cowboys have had over the years. Its just striking that Babe is the guy. Can we get Gary Hogeboom an audition ?

By the way, I love it here. Can we get a trader joe's in the North Dallas area?

That's because the local CBS affiliate KTVT, is the official station for the Cowboys. Laufenberg is their lead sports anchor.
