The Bears potential to move to Indiana?

What happened to the deal with the Bears moving out to the old race track property?

From what I understand with my friends in the Chicago area (partly because I mentioned it involving the convention i go to), it sounds like it's a lot of red tape and such. Things got way more complicated than expected, and Arlington Heights is apparently not wanting to shell out the money for the stadium (which, lets be honest, why should the tax payers be responsible?)

back in the day it was reasonable to ask for taxpayer money; but that was a long time ago. Now as rich as the NFL is they can pay for it themselves.

Exactly, and lets be honest. Stuff is expensive for the average person. It's ridiculous to ask the average person to foot the bill for a stadium, and then charge $100+ for a game ticket to use something they paid for. It's a scam.

The people running the state of Illinois are complete idiots. That’s what happened.

The Bears got fed up with all of the red tape and delays, so they are looking into crossing the state line into a state that is not completely insane.

Thats a little simplistic way to look at it. I would love for teams to pay for their own dang stadiums, but the reality is, there are other cities willing to do it. Is it worth losing the tax revenue, local business and jobs for the city? Makes me sick but that's unfortunately how it works.

Thats the unfortunate reality. The fact that there are cities that will do that.

The Bears move to Indiana took a step closer today while Chicago & Illinois politicians can’t get it done . It’s the Meadowlands all over again luring teams out of state .

Yeah, and it's a shame. I mean, I usually stay in Rosemont near O'Hare when I go for the convention, but it would have been so cool to have them in Arlington Heights.

Like the Dallas hockey team that’s moving to a suburb too many cities willing to make a deal while these older urban centers take months to order paper clips

Yeah, and it's crazy. And then they'll want a new one in about 20-25 years. Begs the question. Jerry world was opened in 09. It's 2026. I think you know where this is going. I wonder if Texas Stadium's old location can support a bigger Jerryworld

I’ve heard where the Timberwolves play was called the Target center , Minneapolis not sure what they call it now you attend a game get back in the car and leave the neighborhood .

That’s a selling point to these teams what’s being built or is already in the surrounding area keep a captive audience before and after rather then lose those dollars . I’m sure Indiana has plans for Hammond and the surrounding neighborhood for the Bears.

Valley Ranch in Irving very nice but Frisco and Jerry just went way beyond what was in Irving . I attended baseball in 95 when W Bush owned the team opened a beautiful ball park. They left for a stadium down the street less than 30 yrs. Arlington has always been aggressive.

I get that. But, at the same time, it is worth wondering, you know? The Falcons binned theirs in about 20 years. The Texans apparently were starting to side-eye this. The Browns (My current local team) are moving to Brook Park after moving into the new stadium. Texas Stadium went from 1971-2008.

Tax payers picking up some of the tab for the new Kansas City Chiefs stadium.

NFL already told them they will get a Super Bowl when completed. Probably a draft too.

This is another team on the move. Leaving Missouri and into Kansas.

Indiana Bears, looks like everything is has being approved, the NFL has to stamp it through. This is beyond stupid, how are they still called Chicago Bears, that is like the Cowboys moving Oklahoma City and being called the Dallas Cowboys.

New York Giants Jets play and have training facilities in Jersey . I agree however whatever state you play in should be the name. Hammond IN too small but not Indiana. And since the Bears have history pick a different name for your new Indiana team .

Indiana Bandits has a ring , black hats red bandana , team colors black & red . Stole them right out from sleeping Illinois politicians . Good bye .

Completely idiotic comparison.

Hammond is literally 24 miles from Soldier Field.

Pretty much the same distance as Cowboys Stadium to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
