The beauty of our QB situation

...is that the real winner of this battle will be the Dallas Cowboys.

If Dak keeps the job, it's because we're winning and he continues on as a rookie sensation.

If not? You turn back to Romo, who in his last full season as QB was effectively the runner-up for MVP.

And if he's not the same guy that he was before? You go back to the guy who led you to a 6-1 start to this season.

Let the media hype this up however they want. No matter your preference at QB, I'm not buying that we can make a bad decision at the moment.

The situation is indeed beautiful; the way it's being handled by our resident doofuses Jerry and Stephen is far from it. I'm starting to believe they really think they can trot out Tony to save the day during halftime of a playoff game after Dak has had his pants pulled down (again) on national TV. After a year of not playing at all.
I can only pray that they are just babbling to the media and that they really do have a plan in place.

Dak has won the job...SK....the sooner you realize that..the sooner you won't have to keep putting out the Romo fires....can you at least admit when Dak hit Witten for the game winning TD....you did a big fist pump?

He hasn't won anything... the job was never available to be won. He's a backup.

Something that isn't frequently talked about on here now that most assume Dak is the starter going forward since we are 6-1... But, do you guys see Tony Romo being a distraction going forward? I don't mean this as a slam on him, but just having his presence there could it disrupt team chemistry? I think players like Witten, while they like Dak, they still have strong feelings toward Romo the player. When Romo is ready to go (I think he is now) do any of you see this potentially disrupting the team chemistry?

IF Tony accepts the backup role gracefully and makes that well known, I could see it being HIGHLY beneficial keeping him around. If he attempts to wrestle the team away from Dak so to speak, could a perfect locker room scenario turn into a mess potentially?

I also think Tony Dungy made a wonderful point about this. The last thing you want is Dak playing all worried, "If I miss this throw I could potentially lose the job!"

How management/Garrett handles all this will be very interesting. It may not be as beautiful of a situation as you point out. Just some random thoughts playing devil's advocate.

I think Romo's feelings would be hurt tremendously once he gets healthy if he is told he is backup. For all we know, in his mind he may be going through therapy every day thinking he will just step right back into his job.

I think you're right here. I think Witten, Lee and the veterans are 100% in Romo's corner. I think Romo is a competitor and I don't think he would cause a distraction on purpose but it could be a tebow effect(that goes for Dak too).

I also think it is a bad idea to pull Dak for Romo if Dak struggles. Then you have damaged the confidence of your QB of the future.

This is why I think it's wise to start Romo as soon as healthy. I also believe Romo is the better player right now but that's not the current argument.

You are going to be very disappointed when Dak remains the starter for the rest of the year and beyond.
I wouldn't be disappointed at all. You're the troll who doesn't care about Dak or the Cowboys. He's just not Romo to you. You don't care whether Dak succeeds or fails.

Look at my join date. Been wanting to move on from Romo since that date. I'm sure you remember how great Romo played that night in that must win game lol

If you want to stick with Romo and have him continue to fail over and over and over again like hes had for the past 10 years, good for you. But the ones who want to move on from Romo are trolls, despite him not getting the job done for 10 years

I'm fine with them rolling with Dak. He's been terrific.

But let's be clear. He did not WIN the job, he inherited it due to injury.
He has played great, but many feel Romo would have played as good or better with this team.
What Dak did was take off like a star with the opportunity presented to him. That's all anyone can ask for or dream of.
We should all be happy about that.
He did not beat out Romo, as if he was the better player, though.

I agree he inherited the job due to injury, but who's to say he wouldn't have been a better option than Romo if both guys were healthy from the start? We never got to see that and there is no way the Cowboys would have given a fair shot to compete for the starting job had Romo remained healthy.

I can respect that some people think maybe Romo could be a better option than Dak, but I don't see why anyone would want to disrupt a nearly perfect season for an unknown. There is no way to know if Romo is 2014 Romo. I don't think he is personally, but even if I did think that, Dak is already playing at that level so why take the chance? Doesn't make any sense. We are already winning and everyone is having fun.

ok technically your right he didn't win it...but he has at least earned the right to continue as the starter...especially with a good chance he gets to 7 in a row after this week....i still of the opinion that we roll with Dak until a change needs to be made....that's not a knock on Romo.

I don't agree, but only because these are special circumstances. If we had two healthy, ready to go QBs, who had both played this season then I would have no problem sticking with the "hot hand" (dumb as I find that to be). But this is a difficult spot they are in.

Yep....that win over the Eagles was truly humiliating for Dak [sarcasm]

I know if I only showed up for work about 4 times the past two years, someone else would be taking my place. Just a reminder...the job of starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys doesn't "belong" to anyone, including Tony.
